Sprint Series of Oklahoma, URSS team for Longdale Speedway battle

LONGDALE, Okla. (Aug. 22) – Race thirteen on the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series 2017 season is set for this coming Saturday, Aug. 26 at Longdale Speedway in a co-sanctioned event with the Kansas-based United Rebel Sprint Series.

Saturday’s feature winner earns $1,000.

As if he needed any more incentive to score his first victory of the season, Jake Martens unoffi­cially comes into the night with 15-point lead over defending IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car national and Sprint Series of Oklahoma champion Andy Shouse.

Shouse has a series-best five feature victories on the season out of the 12 races that have been held thus far this season.

Other SSO regulars expected to compete include Joe Wood Jr., Loyd Clevenger, Chris Kelly, Jerry Jumper, Cody Whitworth, Tristan Oakes, Blake Dacus, Mike Scott, Josh Toho, Brandon Ander­son, Blake Scott, Justin Mowry, Steven Shebester and Dillon Laden.

The URSS is coming off a three-race weekend where Zach Blurton is the current point leader. Steven Richardson, Jed Werner, Oklahoma’s Ty Williams, Darren Berry, Tracey Hill, Brian Her­bert, Aaron Ploussard, Howard Van Dyke and J.D. Johnson are among the series regulars ex­pected to make the trip to the big 3/8-mile oval.

Last year, 25 cars filled the pit area at Longdale with Luke Cranston coming from his fifth starting position to win the caution-free, 25-lap feature.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with race action scheduled for 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults; seniors and military are $12 and kids ages 12 and under will be admitted into the grandstands for free.

Sprint Series of Oklahoma presenting partner Smiley’s Racing Products gives $1,000 in cash to the 2017 champion.
