SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 12) – After nearly 20 years of trying, Asa Doxtator broke through with his first career feature win in the ultra-competitive IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division Saturday at Shawano Speedway.
Doxtator started outside row one and grabbed the lead on the opening lap. Through the first seven green flag laps, Doxtator established a sizeable lead before a caution came out and erased his advantage.
After the restart, 12th starting Kyle Frederick made a charge to second, then challenged for the lead as he got a fender to the inside of the leader on lap 10.
After four lead changes, Doxtator was in front and Justin Jacobsen had snuck past Frederick for second.
Doxtator and Jacobsen ran side-by-side for the lead with Frederick right on their back bumpers. Exiting turn four it was a three-horse race to the finish. Doxtator was not to be denied as he scored his first career feature win. Jacobsen took second followed by Frederick, Vern Stedjee and Mike Schmidt.
Konnoe Wilinski was the IMCA Modified winner and Kyle Raddant topped the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.
