AUBURN, Mich. (July 21) – Defending track champion A.J. Ward prevailed when the IMCA Modified heavyweights in Michigan squared off Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway.
Pole starter Nick Stormzand led most of the first half of the 20-lapper, dueling with Myron DeYoung before the challenger was forced pitside with mechanical issues.
This allowed Ward to inherit the lead in the closing laps where he would continue untouched to the checkers. Stormzand held on for second and Gavin Hunyady was third.
