Murray takes top IMCA Modified honors at Lexington

LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 26) – The drivers with the most feature wins in IMCA history was back in victory lane Sunday as Sunday’s main event at Lexington Raceway was dominated by David Murray Jr.

Murray took the lead from Brandon Clough on lap four after Clough and Charles Stryker ex­changed the lead multiple times in the first three laps. Stryker ended up bringing out the only yel­low flag of the race after he spun out in turn four with five laps to go.

All-time divisional wins leader Mike Nichols added another checkered to his 2017 resume in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature.

Nichols took the lead on a lap-two restart following a spin in turn three. Casey Werkmeister gave Nichols a challenge for the lead late in the race but spun with only four laps remaining.

The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature was led flag to flag by Jacob Wolsleben while the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature came down to the wire to decide the winner.

After Allen Myers led the first seven laps of the 15-lap feature, Luke Wassom took command of the lead. A series of cautions came late in the race set up a one-lap dash around the track for the win, and victory went to Wassom.

Justin Smallcomb won the caution-free Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.
