Smyre Capitalizes Late for Sixth Carolina Sprint Tour Victory

By Evan McCrory GASTONIA, N.C. (Aug. 7, 2026) — The Carolina Sprint Tour presented by GSR Chassis returned to Carolina Speedway on Friday night for a beautiful summer evening of racing while honoring the memory of Street Stock competitor Dale McKenzie. Biscuit Williams paced Radical Race Gear Hot Laps with a lap of 14.663 seconds, the fastest recorded in hot laps at Carolina Speedway this season. Heat race victories went to Tanner Berryhill, who earned his first career Carolina Sprint Tour heat race win, and Jake McLain. Following the redraw, Williams and Greg Smyre led the field to green for the fourth round of the K-Town Pub & Pizza Mini Series. The initial start took several attempts after separate incidents eliminated Ben McCall, Coby Adams and Tim Nye, who was making his Carolina Sprint Tour debut for Andy Stegall Racing. Once the race finally settled into rhythm, Williams worked around Smyre to take command and began pulling away from the field. A caution on lap 12 interrupted the action when Jake McLain suffered a broken rear [Read More]

Laney Charges Late for Boone Modified Victory

By Jane Burd BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2026) — Cody Laney used lapped traffic to his advantage in the closing laps to charge from ninth starting and score a dramatic Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified victory Saturday night at Boone Speedway. Paul Nagle paced the opening eight laps before a bobble in turn two on lap nine handed the lead to Colby Fett. Fett appeared headed for victory until lapped traffic came into play with two laps remaining. Laney, driving the Drew Janssen-built machine, capitalized by slicing through traffic to grab the lead on lap 18 and race away with the victory. The Torrance, Calif., driver earned his third win of the season. All three victories have come at different tracks, in different states, and in different IMCA regions, with Saturday’s triumph marking his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win this year. Nick Meyer advanced six positions to finish second. Fett settled for third, Todd Shute charged from 11th to fourth, and Nagle completed the top five. Belec Scores Modified Victory at Rooks County Speedway

By Sheldon Wickwar STOCKTON, Kan. (Aug. 7, 2026) — Eddie Belec used the high side to perfection and his veteran experience in the closing laps to earn the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature victory Friday night at Rooks County Speedway. After Corey Lagroon paced the early laps, Ayden Steffens found momentum around the cushion and charged from deep in the field to take command. Belec followed him to the front before making the decisive pass late in the race. The victory was Belec’s third of the season and earned him eligibility to attempt to qualify for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Tanner Black finished second, Clay Money was third, Steffens settled for fourth, and Brandon Clough completed the top five. Daniel Gottschalk earned hard charger honors after advancing 14 positions.
