Park Jefferson opens season with Jimmy Cole Night

JEFFERSON, S.D. – Park Jefferson Speedway will open its 2017 racing season on Saturday, April 8 with Salute to Jimmy Cole Night.

Popular racer Cole is fighting cancer and this night will see Park Jefferson donate $1 from every ticket to his recovery fund.

This night will also be the kickoff to the 2017 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season and thanks to fan donations, the IMCA Modified winner will earn $1,255 along with a berth of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Second place in the Modified feature pays $555. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will run for $355 to win and the Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $155 to win.

Anyone interested in contributing to the opening night purse can contact promoter Rod Olson at 712 267-3278. Spectator admission will be $12 for adults, $5 for seniors 70 and over and $2 for students ages 6-16. Pit passes will be $30.

The “fab five” will race the first 2 weeks before being joined by the Championship Sprint Cars on April 22.

On Friday April 7, Park Jefferson will host a season opening test and tune for any drivers who wish to attend in any class of cars that will compete during the 2017 season. Cost is $10 per car and pit passes are $10. The grandstand will be open.
