Winebarger Wins at the Wire and Nolan Takes Super Nationals Prelude Stock Car Victories

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5, 2026) — The first night of the NAPA Auto Parts Double Down Prelude brought a massive field of competitors to Boone Speedway on Saturday, with Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts taking center stage. Collen Winebarger survived a wild final lap to capture the second 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature by just 0.128 seconds. Troy Jerovetz drove the Tracy Thrun-owned No. 01 to the early lead while Winebarger, a two-time Oregon Modified State champion wheeling the Terminator Chassis No. T1 house car, applied the pressure. Winebarger eventually worked his way to the front and began pulling away before a caution on lap 13 changed the complexion of the race. Jerovetz regained the lead on the restart, while Jimmy Gustin used a strong restart to move into second. Gustin began pressuring Jerovetz on lap 16 and took command one circuit later. The two-time defending Marshalltown Speedway track champion and 2010 Modified Super Nationals winner appeared to be in control until trouble in [Read More]

Gray and Baca Charge to Mod Lite Qualifier Wins at Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5, 2026) — Austin Gray and Chaz Baca Jr. dominated their respective Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite qualifiers Saturday night, securing prime starting positions for Sunday’s Big Dance at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The top 10 finishers from each 25-lap qualifier advanced to Sunday’s championship feature, with the first qualifier setting the inside lane and the second determining the middle lane. Gray grabbed the initial lead in the first 25-lapper before a red flag brought the field back for another attempt at the opening circuit. Once racing resumed, Gray again went to the front and quickly checked out. A lap five caution erased his advantage, but the 2025 Boone Speedway track and Iowa State champion was strong on the restart and again built a comfortable lead. Another red flag stopped the action on lap eight, but Gray continued to control the pace when racing resumed. The complexion of the race nearly changed on lap 17. Just as Gray began working into lapped traffic, he made [Read More]

Bubak Bests Drueke in Late-Race Battle at RaceSaver Nationals Qualifier

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 4, 2026) — Jake Bubak and Tyler Drueke traded the lead in the closing laps Friday night at Eagle Raceway before three-time event champion Bubak prevailed in the qualifying feature during night two of the 14th annual RaceSaver Nationals. The 25-lap feature set the first three rows of the three-wide starting grid for Sunday’s Big Dance, with the top nine finishers earning their places in the championship finale. Bubak took off from the pole to put the No. 74B in front on lap one, with Drueke, Trevor Serbus, and Tyler Knight hot on his push bumper. Colby Stubblefield passed Knight on lap two to move into fourth before a lap-six red flag slowed the action. Serbus passed Drueke for second on lap eight as Joey Danley moved into fourth. Serbus fell back rapidly the following lap, moving Drueke back to second and Stubblefield to third, while Danley advanced another position on lap 10. Drueke got around Bubak for the lead on lap 12, but Bubak reclaimed the spot the following [Read More]
