LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 19) – Earning trips to the winner’s circle Sunday at Lexington Raceway were Clay Money, Daniel Gottschalk, Mike Nichols and Jacob Olmstead.
Leading the final two laps of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature was money in the bank for Money. Colton Osborn ran a near-flawless race in leading the first 18 circuits, only to end up with runner-up accolades. Anthony Roth worked through traffic to finish third.
Being at the point during the laps that matter the most was Gottschalk in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. After leading much of the way, Cole Egge was second while third went to Trent Roth.
Nichols picked up IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career win number 399 in dramatic fashion.
Casey Werkmeister grabbed the lead on the second lap and stayed in front until Casey Woken used the bottom groove to get past. Woken led from the 11th lap until the final circuit when Nichols worked his magic and scored the victory. Woken crossed the line in second place with Werkmeister close behind in third.
Finishing strong by leading the final five laps was the winning formula for Olmstead in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
Olmstead exchanged the lead with Jakob Egge for much of the contest, finally gaining the front spot for good on the 10th lap. Veteran hotshoe Chuck Ledbetter had his best night of the season by finishing as runner-up and third was Egge.
