Independence opens with $1,000 to win IMCA Modified event

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win at Independence Motor Speedway’s season-opening Spring Break special this Saturday, April 9.

The feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the program. They’ll vie for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State but no local track points.

There is no entry fee for any division; pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and over and students ages 12-17, and free for kids 11 and under when accompanying a paid adult.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.

Indee Cars complete the Saturday show. The regular weekly purse will be paid in all divisions other than the Modifieds.

The rescheduled Chamber of Commerce/Signs & More Car Show will be held in the Signs & More parking lot located at 1827 1st Street West in Independence from 10 a.m.-2 p.m
. Drivers should have the cars parked by the time the show starts.

Two awards will be given in each division (Modified, Late Model, SportMod, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Indee Car). Every driver who participates in the car show will receive one free grandstand pass for the April 9 event.
