CSP returns to action this Saturday

PEORIA, Ariz. – The battles continue at Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday night, April 2 with Arizona Differential IMCA Modifieds headlining a full card of racing action atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.

Along with the IMCA Modifieds, Saturday’s tilt that goes green at 7 p.m. will also feature the Allscapes IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vs. SCRA Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vs. Renegades.

The CSP points race for the IMCA Modifieds is a tight one in the early going with only eight points sepa­rating the top five thus far. Zack Madrid holds a scant three-point edge over Mike Strobl go­ing into Saturday’s action with Bubba Stafford, Steve Stultz and Guy Norton among the early top five.

Stafford topped the most recent IMCA Modified outing at CSP on March 12, beating Joey Mori­arty, Kenny Wallace, Madrid and Norton to the stripe.

The winner of two of the last three IMCA Stock Car feature events, George Fronsman holds a one-point edge over Feb. 26 winner Cody Center in CSP track championship points with Speedy Madrid, Steve Shumaker and Kenny Wyman Jr., also among the early top five.

While Jason Beshears, Richard Bennett and Chuck Thornton have each enjoyed IMCA Hobby Stock vs. Renegade victory lane thus far in 2016 points action, it’s Jason Crowe holding the early points lead by just three markers over Bennett with Jacob Madrid and Mark Kilian tied for third another two points back.

Tickets for Saturday’s action are $16, with a $3 discount for military, seniors and stu­dents.  Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children six and under admitted free.  VIP passes are availa­ble for $20.
