Arlington Raceway celebrates 35 years of slingin’ dirt

MORTON, Minn. (March 19) ­– More than 300 people attended Saturday’s 2015 Arlington Raceway awards banquet, held at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton.

Track champions honored included: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts, Nate Coopman of Mankato; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock, Cory Probst of Worthington; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, Matthew Looft of Swea City, Iowa; B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, Dan Mackenthun of Hamburg; 95.7 the Rock Station IMCA Sprint Car, Michael Stien of Ceylon; and the New Country MN 93 IMCA Modified, Clint Hatlestad of Glencoe.

The top 10 drivers in each division received an award. Perfect Attendance Awards were presented to 44 drivers that competed in each event.

Rookie awards were presented to: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact, Zach Foesch from Bird Island; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock, Shawn Harms from Green Isle; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, Jason Schroeder from Norwood; B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, Kevin LaTour from LeSueur; 95.7 the Rock Station IMCA Sprint Car, Kyle Sargent from St. Peter; and New Country MN 93 IMCA Modified, Travis Schurmann from Norwood.

‘Cus It’s Fun awards were presented to: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact, Luke Trebelhorn from Winthrop; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock, Patrick Oestreich from Belle Plaine; B & B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, Kevin LaTour; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, Jason Schroeder from Norwood; 95.7 the Rock Station IMCA Sprint Car, Dalyn Cody from Prior Lake; and New Country MN 93 IMCA Modified, Dalton Magers from Redwood Falls.

Most Improved awards were presented to: Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts, Joe Regnar from Winthrop; Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stocks, Cory Probst; Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod, John Albrecht from Glencoe; B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car, John Polifka from Glenoce; 95.7 the Rock IMCA Sprint Car, Trevor Serbus from Olivia; and the MN 93 IMCA Modified, Clint Hatlestad.

For their many years of participation at the race track, the K&S Motorsports team of Steve Kohlin, Cathy, Dave, Sarah and Ashelyn Moriarty from Jordan received the Floyd and Margelte Allen Award for Family Participation at the track and Clint Hatlestad received the Jeff Rucks Sportsmanship Award for his promotion of the sport and Arlington Raceway.

Arlington Raceway will begin its 36th consecutive year under the promotion of Bob & Susan Allen on April 30 with a test and tune day.

Sanctioned classes of cars in competition this year include IMCA Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods, Stock Cars, Sprint Cars and Modifieds. Opening night is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
