SHAWANO Wis. (Aug. 9) – Autism Awareness Night at the historic half-mile Shawano Speedway saw Jared Siefert pocket an extra $900 by virtue of winning “The Challenge” in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature.

The feature started with a battle between Cody Hudson and Jesse Peebles on lap one. Hudson took the lead and held it until lap six when Matt Oreskovich raced inside of Hudson for the lead. By this point, Jared Siefert, who started 18th after taking the challenge, was up to sixth.

A caution flag flew on lap nine after contact between Jamie Schmidt and Marcus Yarie. While under caution Oreskovich was forced to pull down to pit lane with drive line problems. Siefert was up to fourth before the caution.

Hudson assumed the lead after Oreskovich’s problems, but was immediately challenged by Siefert on the restart. Siefert took the lead with an inside pass on lap 11 and led to the end becoming the first Modified driver to successfully complete the challenge at Shawano. He took home $900 in bonus money on top of his regular race winnings.

Travis VanStraten won his seventh feature of the season and third in a row in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car class and Lucas Lamberies won his third Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature.
