PEORIA, Ariz. (July 8) – Canyon Speedway Park is where the action will be this Saturday night as the 1/3-mile clay oval near Phoenix hosts the Mid-Summer Classic.
IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will headline Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic with Pure Stocks, Renegades, Dwarf Cars and X Mods on the card as well. After a Wednesday night open practice session from 6-9 p.m., Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic goes green at 7 p.m.
Ricky Thornton Jr., will try to continue his dominance in the Modified ranks by adding another notch to the win column. Thornton has racked up eight feature wins in 10 tries dating back to the Winter Challenge in January.
Thornton has opened up a 22 point advantage in the track championship points race over Ryan Roath, with Cody Center just three more points back in third. Steve Stultz and George Fronsman round out the current top five in IMCA Modified points.
Tickets for Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic are $15, with a $2 discount for military, seniors and students. Children ages 7-12 are $6 with six and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.
