Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Pink Night Saturday at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The tradition of opening the month of June with a splash of pink continues this season at Independence Motor Speedway. The Saturday, June 7 program is the annual Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Pink Night at the Races.

Race fans are encouraged to wear pink to the races that evening to help promote cancer awareness. Members from the area chapter of Relay for Life will be on hand selling merchandise to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Also a tradition, the annual helmet drive will again be held this season. A handful of drivers will make their way through the grandstands during intermission to help raise money for the cause.

As an added bonus this year, the Saturday, June 7 program is also billed Fan Appreciation Night. After fans toughed out two lengthy rain delays during the May 31 race program, promoters Darin Burco and Todd Summers of S&B Promotions are showing their appreciation by cutting the general admission price in half for this Saturday’s show.

Grandstand admission June 7 will be $5 for everyone ages 12 years and older. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6 p.m. and racing to follow.
