Racing starts this weekend in IMCA’s North Central Region

imca_fi_weeklyDONNELLSON, Iowa – The 2014 IMCA race season gets underway on both sides of the Mississippi River this weekend.

Five sanctioned divisions are in action Friday, April 4 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson for the first weekly event in the Belleville Motor Sports North Central Region.

Sprint Invaders are also on the card, along with IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

The Modifieds race for $500 to win, Stock Cars and SportMods both for $300, Hobbies for $200 and Sport Compacts for $100. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Algona Raceway rolls out the red carpet on Saturday, April 5 for North Iowa Frostbuster drivers.

Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Stock Cars chase a $750 check, with $500 paid to win for the Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks and $250 for the Sport Compacts. Hot laps start at 4 p.m. with racing to follow and all applicable IMCA points will be awarded.

Rescheduled North Iowa Frostbusters are April 11 at Hancock County Speedway and April 13 at I-35 Speedway. The same five IMCA divisions race at Britt and Mason City.

Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill., opens Sunday, April 6 with the inaugural $2,000 to win Ray Guss Sr. Tribute Race for IMCA Late Models. Sanctioned Modifieds vie for a $700 top prize.

Quincy, Ill., Raceway gets its 40th season started the same night with IMCA Stock Cars, Northern SportMods and Sport Compacts on the program.

Southern Iowa Speedway at Oskaloosa hosts a Wednesday, April 9 practice session that starts at 7 p.m. and precedes Frostbusters at SIS, Marshalltown Speedway, Boone Speedway and Benton County Speedway in Vinton. Pit passes are $15.

Sprint Invaders are also on the April 16 opening night program at Osky. Modifieds, Stocks, SportMods and Hobby Stocks take to the big half-mile for 6:30 hot laps and 7:15 p.m. racing.
Deery Brothers Summer Series events are April 5 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, April 11 at Davenport Speedway and April 12 at West Liberty Raceway. IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars make their Iowa debut in Denison.
