30th Harris Clash marks milestone with $10,000 IMCA Modified top prize

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – Thirty years ago, Bob Harris didn’t think the IMCA Harris Clash would ever get this big. As late as a couple weeks ago, the promoter of IMCA’s longest-running one-day special never thought it would pay this big, either. More than 110 IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are already pre-registered for the 30th annual Clash Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Harris had the pleasure of making the announcement late last week that the Modifieds would be racing for $10,000 to win. Wehrs Machine and Racing Products, along with Aero Race Wheels, AFCO, Close Racing, Performance Bodies and Strange Oval, all chipped to double what had been the winner’s original share of the purse. Moffitt returning to Harris Clash for 30th annual IMCA special

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – Brett Moffitt will add to his IMCA heritage at the upcoming Harris Clash. The 2007 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod Clash winner, Moffitt will wheel an IMCA Modified at the 30th annual event on Aug. 3 at Deer Creek Speedway. “I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve worked with him since he was about 13 years old,” Clash promoter Bob Harris said of Moffitt, the youngest driver to win at Knoxville Raceway, the 2015 rookie of the year in the NASCAR Cup Series and 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion. “It’s pretty cool and a benefit for the Clash.” Moffitt will pilot a Jason Snyder-owned car. Plenty of cold cash paid at IMCA Speedweek Hot Summer Nights Series

SPENCER, Iowa – Plenty of cold, hard cash will be paid out during the Aug. 2-7 IMCA Hot Summer Nights Series. Registration begins for Aug. 3 Harris Clash

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod drivers can register now through MyRacePass to be part of the Aug. 3 Harris Clash at Deer Creek Speedway. Modifieds race for $3,000 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier while the Northern SportMods run for $1,200 to win at the 30th annual Clash, IMCA’s longest continuously running one-day special. The Modified winner earns an additional $500 if their chassis builder participates in the Harris Clash manufacturers’ cup. The race of champions, sponsored by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products, pays $1,000 to win and $100 to start. Dotson, Thompson are IMCA Harris Clash winners on record-setting night at Deer Creek

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Aug. 4) – Ethan Dotson had raced his way into the record book with his first Harris Clash victory. He joined a select group of IMCA Modified drivers with his second on Tuesday night at Deer Creek Speedway. With total entries at a record 155 for the 29th annual Clash, Dotson became just the sixth driver to win one of IMCA’s most prestigious events twice, leading all 30 laps and holding off defending race winner Austin Arneson in the process. “I don’t know what else is more fun,” said Dotson, chased much of the distance by Jeff Aikey and 2018 Clash winner Cayden Carter. “It was an awesome track and we got lucky starting where we did.” The Californian drew the pole and set a blistering pace over the first half of the race, halted by the first caution on lap 17. 2020 Harris Clash is coming to IMCA TV

We are extremely pleased to announce the LEGENDARY Harris Clash has been added to the 2020 IMCA TV schedule. The Harris Clash started in 1992 with Kelly Shryock winning the first event. The race was then held at Webster City, Boone and Harlan, Iowa. In 1996, the Clash was moved to Knoxville. This allowed racers to compete at the famed half-mile on a level playing field, as the Clash was the only Modified race held there every year. The Harris Clash quickly became an IMCA must-win event for all Modified competitors. Kelly Shryock, Bill Davis, Kyle Strickler and Greg Metz are all two-time winners of the Harris Clash in the Modified division. In 2006, the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division was added and has been a part of the event ever since. 2018 was an especially exciting year for the Harris Clash and featured a new venue as the race moved to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
