Luecht Extends Streak with SportMod Domination at Barona’s Summer Shootout

(Jun. 21, 2025) — Steven Luecht continued his dominance in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods at the Summer Shootout, winning his ninth straight feature at Barona Speedway Park. After two-time track champion David Kilpela led early and several cautions slowed the action, Luecht grabbed the lead around lap six in the Mike Atkinson-owned no. 47. A lap 15 yellow set up a tense restart with Kilpela close behind, but the Chula Vista chauffeur held strong to win his fourth race of the 2025 season and extend a winning streak at the track that began last August. Kilpela finished second and Arizona’s Scott Francoeur was third. IMCA Modifieds headline Barona’s Summer Shootout

LAKESIDE, Calif. (July 20, 2022) – Five IMCA divisions are on Friday and Saturday Summer Shootout cards at Barona Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility in their July 22 and July 23 features at the quick Southern California speedplant. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods chase $650 top checks, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both run for $500 to win and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts run for $300 to win both nights.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded. Racing begins at 7 p.m. and both programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV. Car and driver is $45; pit passes are $30 for adults and $20 for kids 14 and under. Spectator admission is $20 for adults and $10 for seniors, military, emergency services personnel and students ages 7-17. Barona Speedway hosts July 24 Summer Shootout special

LAKESIDE, Calif. – The inaugural IMCA Summer Shootout brings IMCA Modifieds to Barona Speedway for a Saturday, July 24 $2,000 to win Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,600 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $1,500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $500 to win that evening. Drivers in all four divisions can pre-register at www.imcasummershootout.com. Pit gates open at noon and racing starts at 5 p.m.  Car and driver is $75 and pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $10 for seniors, military and emergency services personnel, $10 for students ages 7-17 and free for six and under. A family pack (two adults and two kids) is $50. An open practice runs from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 23. More information is available on Facebook and the track website.
