Bannister Charges to Watsonville Modified Victory

(Aug. 7, 2026) — The 25-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified finale provided another entertaining battle Friday night at Watsonville Speedway, with Tyler Bannister charging through the field on the high side to score his 11th DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season. Several movers and shakers highlighted the feature, with the eventual winner even making a stop in the work area early in the evening. Multi-time Watsonville champion Cody Burke led the opening laps before Markus Frazier slipped by to take command with Jim Pettit II also in the mix. Frazier maintained the lead until the always-fast Robby Sawyer powered past on lap 14. By then, Bannister had methodically worked his way forward by running the cushion around the quarter-mile. He cracked the top five on lap 13 and surged into second with six laps remaining before hounding Sawyer for the lead. Gaylord Sweeps Inaugural Cowboy Challenge at Sheridan Speedway

(Aug. 8, 2026) — Tripp Gaylord completed a perfect weekend at Sheridan Speedway, winning both features of the inaugural Cowboy Challenge presented by Taco John’s, C&K Equipment, and Shipton’s Big R. The Sully, Iowa, driver, via Lakewood, Colo., capped the weekend by collecting the $7,500 top prize in Saturday’s 40-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified finale after also capturing Friday’s opener. Saturday’s main event began with 2009 DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region champion and six-time reigning Sweetwater Speedway track champion Justen Yeager taking command. An early caution on lap three brought the field back together, and Yeager soon found himself under pressure from three-time Sheridan Speedway champion Bart Taylor and Jason Ingalls. Ingalls, from Texas, was driving the Brian Ungaro-owned No. 94U for the weekend and slipped past Yeager for the lead on lap eight.
