Ferrando Wins Historic First IMCA Wild West Speedweek Stop at River City

By Ben Deatherage ST. HELENS, Ore. (June 14, 2026) — Grey Ferrando added another chapter to his IMCA Wild West Speedweek résumé by winning the first-ever series event held at River City Speedway in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds. Defending DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region and Oregon State champion Kevin Williamson paced the opening laps aboard the Superior Fuel Cells-owned No. 42. Two-time defending Wild West Speedweek SportMod champion Matt Sanders quickly emerged as a challenger and briefly completed a pass for the lead before a caution negated the move. A three-car battle between Williamson, Sanders and Ferrando erupted after the restart. Ferrando, the 2024 Cocopah Speedway and 2017 Cottage Grove Speedway track champion, edged ahead by just .014 seconds at the line on lap eight to seize the lead before a pair of cautions kept the field tightly bunched. Sanders secured second on lap 10 and remained within striking distance as lapped traffic entered the equation on lap 16. A caution on lap 20 removed heavy traffic from the picture and set up another showdown [Read More]

Smith Scores First Davenport Late Model Victory

By Mike Maguire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 12, 2026) — Dustin Smith of Long Grove broke through for his first Davenport Speedway Sunoco IMCA Late Model victory Friday night, charging from fourth and making a late-race pass to secure his second win of the season at two different tracks. Smith worked his way into second by lap five and spent much of the 25-lap feature tracking down leader Blaise Lewis. After stalking Lewis for more than half the race, Smith dove underneath him on lap 21 to take command. The closing laps were anything but easy as Travis Denning charged from 12th and pressured Smith to the finish, but Smith held on for the victory. Denning finished second after advancing 10 positions. Lewis settled for third, Logan Veloz raced to fourth, and Matt Ryan rounded out the top five. Diercks Charges from 12th for Modified Win Spencer Diercks put together one of the night’s strongest drives in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature. The Davenport driver started 12th and needed only six laps to track down early [Read More]

Alec Fett Charges from 12th to Win Scott Cook One-Eye Memorial at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 11, 2026) — Alec Fett put together an impressive drive in the Scott Cook One-Eye Memorial SportMod Nationals, charging from 12th starting position to collect the $1,000 payday and his first victory of the season in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division at Kossuth County Speedway. Josh Appel led the opening lap before Cole Suckow took over on lap two and appeared poised to challenge for the win. Fett steadily worked his way forward through multiple restarts and moved into contention by the midway point of the 20-lap feature. A caution on lap nine for Jake Simpson’s flat tire slowed the action, and another yellow followed after contact between Jacob Korte and Mat Hollerich ended both drivers’ evenings. Suckow remained in command until lap 12, when Fett powered around him on the high side of the backstretch to take over the lead. A final caution for Bailey Stimson’s mechanical issues on lap 14 tightened the field one last time, but Fett was flawless on the restart and drove away for [Read More]
