Brands Holds Off Shryock for Clay County Stock Car Victory

By Jane Burd SPENCER, Iowa (Aug. 17, 2026) — Austin Brands withstood a charge from Kelly Shryock to capture Monday night’s 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Clay County Fair Speedway. Brands, of Alta, started on the pole and led all 25 circuits, but Shryock made sure the trip to victory lane was anything but comfortable. Shryock worked forward seven positions and eventually reached second, where he applied heavy pressure to Brands in the battle for the lead. Brands refused to give way and held off the veteran at the checkers for his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of 2026 and first at Clay County. Shryock settled for second, with Dayton Ullrich third, Mike Albertsen fourth and Mike Vondrak fifth. Ryan Celebrates First Antioch Win of 2026 With Growing Family

(Aug. 15, 2026) — Jason Ryan Jr. of Oakley held off a late challenge from Fred Ryland to score his first Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the season Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. The three-time runner-up in the track standings had an extra reason to celebrate afterward, sharing victory lane with wife Jayleen and their new baby boy. Current California State points leader Jeff Bentancourt, who earlier collected his third consecutive heat race victory, jumped into the lead at the start of the 20-lap feature. Ryan settled into second with Ryland running third. A lap three caution for Kelly Campanile provided Ryan his opportunity. On the restart, Ryan raced past Bentancourt for the lead while Ryland and Al Johnson also moved ahead of the early pacesetter. Appelt Overcomes Flat Tire to Claim Second Bonnie Beeter Memorial

(Aug. 16, 2026) — Caden Appelt overcame a flat tire and a trip to the hot pits to capture his second career $2,000-to-win Bonnie Beeter Memorial for Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks Sunday night at Nodak Speedway. The 40-lap event honoring the late Bonnie Beeter, featured multiple lead changes and plenty of drama over the closing laps. Diezel Raynard and Alan Bertsch led the field to green, with Bertsch taking the early advantage. Raynard and Appelt soon moved into contention, both getting around Bertsch before exchanging sliders for several laps. Appelt eventually secured the top spot and appeared in control until a right rear tire went flat on lap 26, forcing the Minot driver to the hot pits. Raynard inherited the lead for the restart with 14 laps remaining, while Appelt began working his way back into contention. The complexion of the race changed again with five laps to go when Raynard spun, handing the lead back to Appelt. Given a second opportunity, Appelt made it count.
