26 IMCA marketing partners honored during national awards banquet

LINCOLN, Neb. – Twenty-six IMCA marketing partners will be recognized for their dedicated support at the upcoming IMCA national awards banquet. The banquet is Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Cornhusker Hotel in downtown Lincoln, Neb. AFCO will be honored for supporting IMCA racing for 20 consecutive seasons. They are the seventh-longest tenured IMCA sponsor and the latest to achieve a two-decade milestone. 111 IMCA drivers already entered for Duel In The Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 21) – One hundred and eleven IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified and IMCA SportMod drivers are nowpre-entered for the 16th annual Duel In The Desert special at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Nov. 6-9. Early entries are in hand from 91 Modified drivers from 20 states and three Canadian provinces. SportMod entries number 20 and were postmarked from 10 states and one province. Dodge City Raceway Park banquet Information announced

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – With the 2013 racing season at Dodge City Raceway Park coming to a conclusion with the inaugural Jerry Soderberg Memorial on Sept. 28, all that remains is to distribute the hardware and point fund money to the track’s top competitors. The Dodge City Raceway Park awards banquet is set for Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Knights of Columbus building at 800 West Frontview Street in Dodge City, Kan. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. and the awards ceremony to follow. Chassis decision pays off again for Melton

By Neal Palmer BOYD, Texas (Oct. 12) – Chad Melton decision to change chassis paid off again Saturday at Boyd Raceway. Melton won another October special, pocketing $2,000 for winning the Grand Nationals main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds in his new CAM Chassis. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier picked the line he liked and set sail, leading the entire 25-lap feature distance. Glen Hibbard, Tommy Fain, Darryl Campbell and Charles Brewer rounded out the top five. 2013 track champions Dean Abbey and Gabe Tucker defender their Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car turf, respectively. Hansen completes Fall Nationals mission at RPM with $5,000 IMCA Modified payday

(Oct. 10-12) – John Hansen earned the biggest share of the weekend’s $60,000-plus purse when more than 230 race teams, representing 11 states and Canada, converged on RPM Speedway for the seventh annual Fall Nationals Oct. 10-12. Pole starter Hansen was a man on a mission in Saturday’s 40-lap IMCA Xtreme Modified feature, which included four former national champions in the star-studded lineup. Scott Drake and Dominic Ursetta swapped the lead early. Hansen took the lead on lap 14 and never looked back as he lapped half of the 24-car field en route to the win and a $5,000 check. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier was followed by Ursetta, Eddie Belec, Drake and Jeremy Frenier. MAYETTA, Kan. – Feature events for five IMCA divisions are on the schedule for both nights of Thunder Hill Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19 Thunder On The Hill Special. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features pay $2,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start, and are qualifying events for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both run for $700 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Gould gets biggest share of Modified green at Showdown

The new IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified national champion took the $2,500 checkers in Sunday’s rescheduled Showdown at Kennedale Speedway Park. The victory put Gould on the ballot for next year’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. After qualifying Friday evening with a runner-up finish behind Glen Hibbard, Gould wasted no time getting around pole starter Chase Allen on the backstretch and was in the lead when every lap after that was scored. Hibbard started inside row two, was quickly up to second and pressured Gould lap after lap, briefly gaining the lead on lap three and pulling alongside on lap nine. The 25th annual Desert Classic brings the best drivers from around the Larry Shaw Racing Western Region to town Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2.
