Trevor Egbert scores anniversary win at Cotton Bowl

Hallas PAIGE, Texas (March 28) – Trevor Egbert took home the hardware for his anniversary present to his wife in the Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod feature Saturday at Cotton Bowl Speedway. He was trailed to the checkers by his father George, who is celebrating his 40th year of racing. Egbert got by Sid Kiphen near halfway then put some distance on the pack. A late-race caution set up a green, white, checkered finish that saw George Egbert get by Kiphen for second and finish as runner-up. “I just followed my dad through traffic,” commented Egbert. “My car was a little better than his and I just ran where others weren’t. Bilstein renews awards for drivers in five IMCA divisions

POWAY, Calif. – Bilstein Shocks has renewed a contingency award program benefitting drivers in five IMCA divisions. Top eligible drivers in each of the five IMCA Xtreme Motors Sports Modified regions receive $350 product certificates from the Poway, Calif., manufacturer, with $250 for second and $200 for third. Certificates to the top three eligible drivers in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions will be given in increments of $350, $250 and $150. The top three in both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions and in national Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod point standings receive product certificates valued at $300, $200 and $100, respectively. Cottage Grove set for April 4 season opener

The famed 1/4-mile clay oval had a very successful test and tune session this past Sunday with many new drivers who plan on running CGS in 2015. Classes on tap will include the always-popular IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, 360 sprints, latem, and the Quality RV Repair hornets. Sunflower Classic draws 150-plus teams; Sobbing, Sellard top IMCA Modified mains

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (March 27-28) – Jesse Sobbing and Clay Sellard were $1,000 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature winners at RPM’s Sunflower Classic special. Sobbing took the lead on lap nine and drove on for the Friday checkers. Four-time national champion David Murray Jr. settled in the runner-up spot, followed by Mike Densberger, Dylan Sherfick, and Cody Gearhart. On Saturday, Sellard started outside pole in the 25-lapper, jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back in the caution-free event to make his way to victory lane. Sobbing chased Sellard the second half of the race but settled for the runner-up spot, followed by Gearhart, Ryan Heger and Jeremy Zorn. More than 150 race teams from eight states competed in the season lidlifter at Hays. Kyle Vanover and Mike Nichols were $750 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature winners. New Nebraska series needs name, slogan

Attention all race fans and drivers, history has been made! We are proud to announce that four Nebraska tracks have come together like never before. U.S. 30 Speedway, Boone County Speedway, Off Road Speedway and Stuart Raceway, in cooperation with IMCA are excited to announce a new race series to be hosted at these four tracks. Pennsylvania Sprint Series sanctions with IMCA

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – With the 2015 season set to start this weekend the Pennsylvania Sprint Series has finalized an agreement to sanction with IMCA. Beginning this Saturday, April 4 at Port Royal Speedway, PASS races will run under the IMCA sanction. The series has been affiliated with RaceSaver since its founding in 1998. More than 70 different drivers competed in one or more series events last year. PASS features typically averaged car counts of 22-30. “We’re big but we don’t act big. We’re a group of recreational drivers. We’ve stayed away from points because we don’t want to push our drivers into having to race every night,” explained PASS Director Rod Ort. “We did the research and the big question coming into this was what IMCA could do for us.” “In talking with (IMCA President) Brett Root, I think we’ll have the best of both worlds,” he continued. “RaceSaver controls the rules and we get the benefit of the IMCA point structure. Moore scores IMCA Modified honors at WaKeeney’s Spring Fling

By Mike Hughes WAKEENEY, Kan. (March 29) – Nate Moore was the $1,000 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified winner when WaKeeney Speedway opened the new season with its fifth annual Spring Fling. Defending race winner Cody Gearhart started on the pole for the 25-lap feature and took the early lead with Ryan Heger in tow. After a caution on lap 18 when Mike Martin lost his motor, Moore made a pass on Gearhart to take the top spot. Gearhart left the race later with tire issues. Moore held on to win with Heger, Randy Wilson, Kyle Rohleder and Dylan Sherfick completing the top five. The victory put Moore on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Cole conquers IMCA Modified foes at Tri-State Kegger

POCOLA, Okla. (March 27-28) – Tate Cole got the answers to a lot of questions Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway. Cole led all 30 laps of Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger main event. Work on track surface already has race fans coming to watch at Lincoln County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – New promoter Wade Hill can tell that Lincoln County Raceway fans are ready to get the new season started. Opening night isn’t until April 11 at North Platte but folks have already been showing up to watch Hill and his crew at work on the 3/8-mile dirt oval. “We hauled in more than 300 semi loads of dirt during the off-season and increased the banking all the way around. WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Mitchell Machine doubles the size of its IMCA contingency program this season, with new awards for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod drivers. Top eligible finishers in national standings for both divisions receive $250 product certificates from the Webster City, Iowa, transmission manufacturer and machine shop. Second- and third-place eligible drivers in each division receive $100 product certificates.
