Cole conquers IMCA Modified foes at Tri-State Kegger

POCOLA, Okla. (March 27-28) – Tate Cole got the answers to a lot of questions Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway. Cole led all 30 laps of Saturday’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger main event. The victory paid $1,500, put Cole on the ballot for this September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and came in his first start of 2015. “I was kind of wondering about this weekend because I have a crate motor and this was my first night out because we didn’t get to practice on Thursday (because of rain),” he explained. “I converted my open car from last year to IMCA and this was my first time on Hoosiers in that car. Work on track surface already has race fans coming to watch at Lincoln County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – New promoter Wade Hill can tell that Lincoln County Raceway fans are ready to get the new season started. Opening night isn’t until April 11 at North Platte but folks have already been showing up to watch Hill and his crew at work on the 3/8-mile dirt oval. “We hauled in more than 300 semi loads of dirt during the off-season and increased the banking all the way around. I think it looks like a completely new track,” he said. “I’ve already had cars come out on three nights and turn practice laps for me and the drivers liked it. Mitchell Machine doubles IMCA program with new awards for SportMod divisions

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Mitchell Machine doubles the size of its IMCA contingency program this season, with new awards for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod drivers. Top eligible finishers in national standings for both divisions receive $250 product certificates from the Webster City, Iowa, transmission manufacturer and machine shop. Second- and third-place eligible drivers in each division receive $100 product certificates. Elk City is latest Oklahoma track to sanction with IMCA

ELK CITY, Okla. – A dozen Sunday shows are on the schedule this season at newly-sanctioned Elk City Speedway. First track points for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at the western Oklahoma venue will be awarded April 12. “We want to keep this track open and help spread IMCA across Oklahoma,” explained promoter Paul Vines. The municipally owned 3/8-mile clay venue is a sister track to Outlaw Motor Speedway, which will run on Fridays, and Longdale Speedway, which will run on Saturdays. Elk City concludes its first IMCA season with the Winter Nationals special on Oct. 30-31. Five race nights are on the schedule for each of three local classes at Elk City, where expansion plans are already in the works for 2016. ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – Aero Race Wheels rewards special event drivers and state champions in five IMCA divisions again this season. Nine dates for new IMCA Sprint Series of Nebraska

EAGLE, Neb. (March 26) – Opening night for the inaugural Sprint Series of Nebraska comes on night two of Eagle Raceway’s Ice Breaker Challenge. The Saturday, April 18 main event for touring IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars pays $1,000 to win. Another eight dates are on the 2015 schedule, including Fridays, April 24 and Sept. 11 at Eagle. Thursday shows at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus are May 7, June 4 and Aug. 13. DENISON, Iowa – More than two decades after its only previous visit, the Deery Brothers Summer Series returns to Crawford County Speedway on Saturday, April 4. Opening night for the IMCA Late Model tour brings the series back to Denison for the first time since July 28 of 1994. Gary Webb of Blue Grass was the winner that evening, earning the second in what became a record four straight feature victories and eventually the first of three career tour championships. 281 switches Spring Fling to April 25, 26

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Spring Fling originally planned for this weekend at 281 Speedway has been rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26. Inclement weather, wet track conditions and a wet and windy forecast prompted the change of dates. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts will race both days at Stephenville. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. On Sunday, gates open at 1 p.m., the grandstand opens and hot laps start at 3 p.m. and racing is at 4 p.m. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded.
