Rust looks for record third straight Hawkeye Dirt Tour win tonight at Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (June 9) – Joel Rust looks to make Hawkeye Dirt Tour history tonight, when the series for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds travels to Kossuth County Speedway. Rust has won the first two tour events, on Memorial Day at Benton County Speedway and Tuesday at Marshalltown Speedway. A win at Algona would make him the first driver to win three straight events in the series’ 64-race history. “I’ve been to Algona once before, in a SportMod about five years ago,” the Grundy Center charger said this afternoon. “I’m anxious to get back there. Carter continues Southern Iowa Speedway streak

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 8) – Cayden Carter continued his winning streak in the IMCA Budweiser Stock Car division Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Nathan Wood led lap one but Louis Lynch wrestled it away on lap two. Lynch and Wood battled before Wood grabbed the lead back on lap four. Wood appeared to be heading on to the win when Carter chased him down and took the front spot. Wood tried to make several challenges to get by but Carter was not to be denied win number six, keeping him perfect on the regular season. Wood, Lynch, Todd Reitzler and Donnie Pearson finished second through fifth, respectively Colt Mather led to the checkers after taking the lead 10 laps into the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified headliner. Dodge City Raceway Park back in action this Saturday

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Dodge City Raceway Park will continue to be the place to be on Saturday nights with another full card of championship chase action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas on June 11. After sitting idle this past weekend, Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds return to action with IMCA SportMod, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks in action as well. Cole Traugott has enjoyed the hot hand in recent Modified action by topping three of the four most recent events. The SportMods added another winner to the list with Daylon Bergeron topping this past weekend’s card to become the 13th different winner in the last 15 events. Guss dominates Deery feature at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 7) – It’s been a few years since the last time he won an IMCA Late Model series race there, but Ray Guss Jr. put on a Deery Brothers Summer Series clinic Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway. Guss started outside Joel Callahan on the front row, took the lead on the second circuit and ran the rest of the 50-lapper without serious challenge. The $2,000 victory was the series career 31st for Guss, also the Deery winner at Marshalltown in 1989 and 2009. His latest checkers came ahead of Tyler Droste, Ryan Dolan, Callahan and Cayden Carter. “We were pretty decent in the heat race. We only made a few adjustments to make the car turn better,” said Guss. “Once we did that, it worked. Rust makes momentum work for Marshalltown Hawkeye Dirt Tour win

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 7) – After he went back to what he knew, Joel Rust went back to victory lane following a second straight Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature. Rust became a rare repeat winner in the series for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, following up his Memorial Day victory at Benton County Speedway with the $1,000 checkers Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway. He became just the second driver in the series’ 63-race history to win back-to-back features and accomplished the feat at his home track by less than a car length over Brian Irvine. “We had run ninth in the weekly show Friday at Marshalltown. COLBY, Kan. (June 4) – The United Rebel Sprint Series made its way back to the 3/8’s mile Thomas County Speedway oval Saturday night and fans were on their feet for a classic green, white, checkered finish. Ty Williams, driving the 911 Christopher Ryan Kruse tribute IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car wired the field to take his first URSS victory of the season. Williams along with outside pole sitter Nate Berry brought the field to the green with Williams jumping into the lead and Steven Richardson, Nate Berry, Jeff Radcliffe and Luke Cranston rounding out the top five after lap one. Cranston and Radcliffe got by Berry on lap two. Lap five saw Radcliffe pull off the track with a shattered rear brake rotor, ending his promising run early. Mayden captures Cottage Grove checkers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 4) – Jake Mayden was the fourth and final leader in Saturday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Cottage Grove Speedway. Ryan Baker got off to a great start and remained in the lead until lap nine after a restart. The driver overtaking Baker was Curtis Towns, who stayed at the point until getting collected in a wreck while dealing with lapped traffic on the 14th circuit. This gave the lead to Eric Ashley, who paced the field until Mayden made the move to get around him. Mayden then held off Ashley for his first win of the season. Kinzer Cox, dash winner Steven Sturdevant and Tyler Smith rounded out the top five. Jorddon Braaten notched his fourth straight Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Runner-up was Daniel Ray. Jackson speeds to Raceway Park checkers

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 5) – A strong wind blew into Raceway Park on Sunday night as five racing divisions provided a fast night of IMCA racing action. The first feature to hit the track was the Kiss 107 FM IMCA Sport Compacts. In the final run to the checkers, Luke Jackson got by Don Tank for the win, while Tracy Raml rounded out the three finishers. The Car Quest IMCA Hobby Stock feature saw Kyle Davis move into the lead on the second lap. Davis held the lead until Jon Androy slipped by with nine laps remaining. Shortly thereafter, Tony Fetterman took the top spot from Androy and held on for the feature win. Behind Fetterman, Androy took second followed by Davis and Aaron Shearn. Nielsen wins fourth feature at Hancock County

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (June 4) – So far this season, Cody Nielsen has been the most dominant driver in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division at Hancock County Speedway. That trend continued on Saturday as the Spencer driver won for the fourth time in seven nights of racing at the track. Starting in the 10th position was the place to be at the start of the feature that evening as three of the five winners started in that spot and another winner started on the outside of the fourth row. Nielsen started the Hobby Stock feature in the lucky fifth row outside spot before weaving his way through cars to take yet another victory.
