Ambitious 18-race slate for Sprint Series of Oklahoma

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The sophomore season for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series of Oklahoma boasts an ambitious 18-race schedule that will see eight different tracks in three states host at least one SSO event in 2017. The season will kick off Saturday, March 25, in the first of six appearances at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. Longdale Speedway will again host an SSO event and be joined by the Kansas-based United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) on Saturday, April 1. Wichita Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, will play host to two series events. The track is under new ownership this year and will be promoted by former sprint car driver Kathryne Minter. Malcom looks to continue Idaho IMCA success in return to Modified division

SHELLEY, Idaho – A driver with track and state championships to his credit last year can already give you an approximate date for the highlight of his 2017 season. Cody Malcom won seven Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod features on the way to capturing Atomic Motor Raceway track and Allstar Performance Idaho State titles in 2016. Big Daddy now has new, big role in Southern Hobby Stock Region

NORFOLK, Neb. – Every driver in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division will be in the running for post-season cash awards from Big Daddy Race Cars. The Norfolk, Neb., chassis builder becomes title sponsor of the division’s Southern Region while returning for a fourth season in the same role in the Northern Region. Big Daddy will furnish a portion of the point fund to be paid to the top five drivers in the respective regions. IMCA Sprint Series of Nebraska primed for 10 dates in three states

BENNINGTON, Neb. – Ten race dates at tracks in three states comprise the 2017 schedule for the Sprint Series of Nebraska. Each main event in the tour for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars pays $700 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be awarded. The series visits two tracks for the first time: Raceway Park in Jefferson, S.D., on June 18 and the Belleville, Kan., High Banks on July 3. Wernette wins drawing for 2017 IMCA license

BOONE, Iowa – IMCA Modified and Super Nationals veteran Chad Wernette was the winner of a drawing for a complimentary 2017 competitor’s license. The Sheridan, Mich., driver’s name was drawn from among those returning a survey following the 2016 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “What we enjoy most about Super Nationals is the people,” said Wernette, elected to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational field in 2010. “We keep trying to get better every year.” He’ll be a regular at Crystal Motor Speedway again this season and plans occasional starts at I-96 Speedway and Tri-City Motor Speedway as well.

IMCA Sprint Cars new to Saturday shows at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will be new to weekly race programs this season at Boone Speedway.
