Mitchell Machine adds Hobby Stocks to IMCA contingency award program

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – New contingency awards from Mitchell Machine are in store this season for a fourth IMCA division. The Webster City, Iowa, transmission manufacturer and machine shop adds IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks to a program already including IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods. Top three eligible finishers in point standings in each of the Big Daddy Race Cars regions for Hobby Stocks receive product certificates valued at $250, $100 and $100, respectively, from the 12-year IMCA sponsor. Product certificates in the same $250, $100 and $100 increments go to top three eligible drivers in the two EQ Cylinder Head Stock Car regions, and in national standings for both SportMod divisions. New qualifying format in place for historic 32nd annual Deery Brothers Summer Series

VINTON, Iowa – A new qualifying format employing passing points will be used at Deery Brothers Summer Series events this season. It’s the first time in the 32-year history of the IMCA Late Model tour that passing points have been used. All heat race winners and the next combination of drivers with the highest passing point totals will comprise the first 12 main event starters, with heat winners redrawing for the front rows. “B” feature grids will be lined up from the remaining high to low point totals. Series point provisionals will be awarded to drivers to drivers not qualifying from their heat or “B.” The upcoming Deery Series opens with the $5,000 to win Rebel 5K at Davenport Speedway on Friday, April 13.

Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series returns to New Egypt Speedway for opening night

The IMCA Race Saver Sprint Car series, has four scheduled events at the Central New Jersey D-shaped oval, with April 14th being the first. The series returns there on May 12, July 21 and Aug. 11. Farley Speedway pre-season car show set for March 31

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – The annual Farley Speedway pre-season race car show is set to be held inside the beautiful Palace Ballroom on Saturday, March 31. The spacious Palace Ballroom is located on the Farley Speedway grounds and has ample space to host a large number of race cars. The show will get underway at 11 a.m. and will feature free admission to all patrons. A DJ will be on hand for entertainment and will be playing your favorites from 1-5 p.m. The Palace Ballroom will also be featuring drink and food specials throughout the show. BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 23-24) – A first-time visitor and a regular at Batesville Motor Speedway both raced their way to victory lane during the Arkansas Spring Nationals. Hunter Marriott topped Friday’s IMCA Modified feature while Jeff Taylor went from last on opening night to first in the Saturday show. Both features paid $1,500 to win and both Marriott and Taylor were already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Marriott started opening night from outside the front row and led the distance, pulling away from everybody en route to his eight Fast Shafts ballot qualifying victory already this season and 11th since last August. By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (March 24) – To say Jamie Campbell’s road to the winner’s circle Saturday at I-37 Speedway was eventful might be an understatement. Campbell, who started eighth in the IMCA Modified feature, got clipped in a grinding lap three crash, taking some extensive body damage to the car. Then, while running third, he narrowly escaped contact with Talon Minten who spun directly in his path. That caution, the fifth of the night, saw officials call for a green, white, checkered finish on time limit. Race-long leader Dillon Tindall got a good restart, but Campbell quickly closed back in.
