Another notable night for Noteboom at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 5) – Jay Noteboom continued his assault on the record book on opening night at Park Jefferson Speedway. Noteboom picked up the Artwork Graphics IMC Modified feature win and $700. Noteboom came from the fourth row by working all lanes of the track to get the win over rookie Todd Boulware, who continues to impress. Jim Thies was third. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars saw Nate Eakin pick up the victory ahead of Elliot Amdahl and Dusty Ballenger. The J&J Fitting IMCA Stock Cars continues to be a must-watch division, with Ryan Harris sticking his brand new chassis in victory lane. Royal Flush Rush feature win pays Zoubek $1,000

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 5) – Bob Zoubek put his name on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot with a $1,000 IMCA Modified win Saturday at Eagle Raceway’s Royal Flush Rush. Zoubek had started 10th and took the checkers ahead of Jeff Schroyer. “The track was really racy. There were two lines and they were both fast,” he said. “We just kind of came through there nice and slow and stayed out of trouble. Jeff kind of had the better line for awhile there, but I finally got around him and drove away a little.” Nate Thompson, Schroyer, Jaxon Saathoff and Justin Wulf had led the field after the initial lap. Chad Andersen cracked the top four on lap two before moving up to third the next time around. Zoubek advanced to fourth following a spin by Andersen. Garnhart, Soppe score at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 6) – Sunday’s Merfeld Brothers Auto IMCA Modifieds feature at Dubuque Speedway was another nail biter as several drivers took their turns at the front. Bryce Garnhart battled with Austin Moyer for much of the 20-lap main event before crossing under the checkers ahead of Moyer. Last week’s winner Jason Schueller turned in another fine run in taking third. Defending IMCA national champion Tyler Soppe scored the feature win in the 18-lap GSI Collision Specialists Northern Sportmod main event. Soppe fought to the front from a fourth row start to score the win ahead of early leader Justin Becker. Scott Busch followed up last week’s win with a third place finish.

Yaw comes up big in Outlaw IMCA Modified main

By Paul Szmal DUNDEE, N.Y. (May 4) – Phil Yaw hung on for a big IMCA Modified win Friday on Little League Night at Outlaw Speedway. Phil Yaw got out ahead of Rodney Morgan. Will Ward passed Morgan for second and almost took the lead in traffic with two to go, but Yaw held on for the win, followed by Ward, Morgan, Shawn Bruce and Tony Harris.

LOCKWOOD, Mo. – Drivers in all eight IMCA divisions earn shares of a lucrative Kluhsman Racing Components awards program again this season. Rookie races to Tri-City checkers

(May 4) – Nobody could keep up with Nate Jones Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway, as the Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified rookie raced to his first career win in the class. A former pro stock champion, Jones made what became the winning pass just shy of halfway and dominated the rest of the way. At the finish, Jones was closely followed by last week’s winner Matt Szecsodi and Chris Cohoon.

Quad City win is Deery Series record tying fourth straight for Kay

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 6) – A driver who’s been in a class by himself joined another exclusive group Sunday night. Justin Kay won the Deery Brothers Summer Series feature at Quad City Speedway, his third victory in as many IMCA Late Model tour outings this season and record-tying fourth straight Deery win dating to the 2017 finale. Previous winners of four straight Deery features were Gary Webb in 1994, Rob Toland in 2004 and Brian Harris in 2013. Kay dominates Deery at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 5) – Once he got in front, there was no catching Justin Kay in Saturday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Maquoketa Speedway. Kay started in the second row, slipped inside leader Terry Neal on the 12th circuit and led to the finish of the IMCA Late Model Tour feature. “Terry moved up to get by a lapped car and that’s when I was able to pass him,” Kay said. “Any time you get an opportunity like that, you have to be ready.” The sole caution of the 50-lapper came out with three circuits to go and Kay by then handily ahead of Neal & Co. Kay rallies for Davenport Modified win

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 4) – Justin Kay raced from the back of the field to the checkers Friday at Davenport Speedway. Six Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, one of them six driven by Kay, were involved in a first-lap incident. Kay restarted at the tail of the field but several cautions later, took the lead after a lap 12 restart. Kay led the remainder of the race to take victory. Kurt Kile worked his way to a second place finish. The Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods saw a number of early yellows, however there would be no pass for the lead. Keith Blum started on the front row and survived all the restarts to score the victory. Jared Waterman finished second.

Dodge City opener set for Saturday night
