Next Deery Series dates are this weekend at Maquoketa, Quad City

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 1) – The only weekend doubleheader of the season is next for the Deery Brothers Summer Series, with $2,000 to win events on Saturday, May 5 at Maquoketa Speedway and Sunday, May 6 at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill. The second and third installments of the tour for IMCA Late Models both pay a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 3 p.m. Saturday at Maquoketa. Hot laps are at 5:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students and free for ages 12 and under. Discounted tickets are available from participating sponsors and pit passes are $30. Also on the card are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Packed pits for Lincoln County lidlifter

The heated action was highlighted with the pits being jam packed with competitors looking to start their season off on the right foot in front of a large crowd. Earning IMCA feature wins were David Murray Jr., Danny Concelman, Mikey Dancer, Jeromy Wagner and Andrew Baumgarder. No stranger to the winner’s circle, Murray weathered a storm restarts to earn his career 550th IMCA Modified feature victory. Ward shines at Crystal

CRYSTAL, Mich. (April 28) – After venturing to New York for his first IMCA Modified feature win of the season, A.J. Ward raced closer to home and got his second Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway. The two-time defending Dirt Works Eastern Region champion and 2017 Crystal track king bested Brenten DeYoung and Brady Hollenbeck in the race to the checkers. Matt Szecsodi and Austin Wonch rounded out the top five.

Noll notches IMCA Modified win at Canyon

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. (April 28) – Jason Noll picked off his third win in four events in the IMCA Modified division Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park. Noll raced his way from sixth to an early lead, overtaking Jay Foster who started on the front row. Once Noll found himself out front, his MRT Chassis was set on cruise control to his third win in four points races at Canyon. Chaz Baca Jr. and John Parmeley put on a good show, both coming from the fifth row to land on the podium, with Baca eventually working his way around Parmeley to finish in second. Off Road Speedway’s 2018 season off and running

(April 28) – With a large crowd on hand, the 2018 season at Off Road Speedway began Saturday night. “We’ve got 84 cars here tonight, which is an increase from last year, and a great crowd for the first night,” promoter Jerry Pospisil said. “The track is really good, it’s slick, and that’s what we like. We’re real excited about the year, especially if we can keep the car count up around 80–that’s the best in the business around here.” With an increased purse this season for classes that consist of 20 cars or more, Pospisil noted that two of Saturday night’s classes, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, already met that criteria on opening night. Dubuque Speedway opens with Schueller, Busch winners

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 29) – The 2018 racing season is officially underway at the Dubuque Speedway with opening night action being held on Sunday, April 29. Jason Schueller served notice that winning the track championship in 2017 was only incentive to repeat in the very tough IMCA Modified division. Schueller drove his new Rage chassis to the 20-lap feature win ahead of Mark Schulte and Tyler Madigan. Scott Busch used his front row start to his advantage in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and earned the opening night feature win. Busch led flag to flag in scoring the win ahead of Jerry Miles and Tyler Soppe.

Thornton, Harrison prevail at Central Arizona

(April 28) – Jeremy Thornton rocketed to his second IMCA Modified victory of the season while Mark Harrison came back from early troubles to hold off Jason George in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Central Arizona Speedway. Thornton shot into the lead following an early restart and left the rest of the field to battle for second. At the finish, Thornton took a 2.303 second win over Tyler Mecl, Darin Center, Trevor Miller and Chuck Grohnke. With two laps remaining and a bunched-up restart, it appeared as if George might be able to challenge Harrison for the Northern SportMod win. But Harrison was up to the task and got a nice jump at the green. George stayed close but, in the end, would cross the stripe .488 seconds behind Harrison at the finish. Arron Hetrick held on to the third spot after crossing the line side by side with a charging Jimmy Terstriep.

Team Gullion runs 1-2 at Eagle

Adam Gullion not only won his heat and the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car eature but his second car, driven by Zach Blurton, won its heat and came in second in the main. “It was definitely nice.
