Fred Ryland was a double winner in IMCA Northern SportMod and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.  Youngster Andrew Pearce started on the pole and led through the caution eight laps into the Northern SportMod main.  Ryland started in the fifth row and moved up quickly and took first place on lap 10 and led to the finish. Pearce and last year’s national rookie of the year and [Read More]

Spring special at I-70 Motorsports Park one for IMCA Modified, Stock Car record book

ODESSA, Mo. (March 28, 2022) – A spring special at I-70 Motorsports Park will be one for the record book as both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars make first-ever appearances at the Show-Me State Oval April 1 and 2.      The motorsports park property, purchased by Chris Payne and Steve Bailey in 2016, features a high-banked clay oval 3/8’s of a mile around on the very bottom and more than half a mile around at the very top.      “Modified and Stock Car drivers are going to be the first IMCA drivers to race here. We’ve run a couple sprint car events here but that’s it. No Modifieds or Stock Cars have ever been at this track,” said Track Manager Tommie Estes. “It’s big and it’s wide – the narrowest part of the track is 83 feet and that’s on the front straightaway – and it’s got some bank to it. I think it’s a great track for IMCA cars.”      I-70 has seating for 9,000 fans, including 5,000 stadium [Read More]

Hard work pays off for Hamilton with career first IMCA Southern SportMod feature win at Stampede

LINDSAY, Okla. (March 25, 2022) – Tim Hamilton figured he’d had enough and quit racing eight years ago. Now he’s back on the track and can’t get enough time behind the wheel of a Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod. From Lindsay, Hamilton raced to his career first feature win in the division on opening night March 18 of the IMCA Stampede special at home track Southern Oklahoma Speedway.  “Finally! After all our hard work,” said Hamilton. “It certainly wasn’t a win that was given to me and I knew my wife Tandra was way happier than I was. My dad George and brother Justin both took off work and were there helping so it was great to be able to win that night.”  The $1,000 checkers, he noted, came in a 2014 Western Flyer car previously owned by track promoter John Webb and purchased from Trey Willoughby.  “It’s pretty old but it’s been updated. We’ve just raced the crap out of it,” said Hamilton, who had a couple third-place finishes and finished 16th in point standings [Read More]
