Alvarado’s racing vacation starts with IMCA Modtana Madness win

BELGRADE, Mont. (July 1, 2023) – Ricky Alvarado started his 2023 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified racing vacation with the $5,000 checkers at Gallatin Speedway’s inaugural Modtana Madness special. The veteran from Colorado won both his heat races and the pole dash Friday night at Belgrade, then led all 55 laps of Saturday’s main event. “It has been a while since I ran that many laps and it has been maybe 10 years since I won $5,000 so it was pretty exciting to pull that off,” Alvarado said. “I had never raced at Gallatin before and the facility is beautiful. The weather was about as perfect as you could ask for and it was neat to race in front of such a big crowd.” Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Alvarado won ahead of home state drivers Ty Clemens, Davon Jadwin and Jordan Tocci. Wyoming’s Braxton Yeager completed the top five as Modtana Madness presented by NAPA Auto Parts drew 51 IMCA entries. “We had a break on lap 25 for fuel. At the start the track was tacky [Read More]

By Scott J. Owen SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 30, 2023) – Nick Buckarma and Matthew Radtke secured their first IMCA wins of the season Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Josh Mroczkowski, Buckarma and Dan Sell Jr. soon joined the family feud for the lead. Darren Otto wrestled the lead back on lap four. Mroczkowski took his turn in the lead on lap five. It would be short-lived, however, as Darren Otto took the top spot back on the next circuit. Darren Otto, Buckarma and Mroczkowski went three-wide for the lead on lap 10 with Buckarma gaining the lead. Benji LaCrosse soon joined the leaders as well and moved to second on lap 14. Buckarma continued to lead but LaCrosse soon applied the pressure while running second. LaCrosse pulled to the inside of Buckarma as the duo raced side-by-side over the closing laps. Buckarma would hang on for the win [Read More]

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 29, 2023) – All summer long, Swea City’s Matt Looft has simply dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division at Kossuth County Speedway. On Thursday night, things remained the same as Looft led 18 circuits of the 25-lap, $1,000 to win Wyffels Hybrid SportMod Special to highlight the evening of exciting dirt track racing. Justin Klynsma and Dustin West led the SportMod field to flag-stand for the green flag in the feature as Klynsma took the early lead with the yellow flag appearing early. The caution flag reappeared one lap later and also on lap number six for spins as Klynsma continued to lead the race with the ninth starting Looft lurking and looking for his opportunity.
