By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 17) – The IMCA Weekly Racing Series action at the Dubuque County Fair­grounds Speedway on Sunday night included a fantastic Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Model feature that saw two Dubuque drivers battle for the entire 25 laps. Luke Merfeld and Joel Callahan delighted the fans with plenty of wheel-to-wheel action and slide jobs were a big part of the tight racing. When the checkered flag flew it was Merfeld scoring the win and the $300 bonus money from sponsors, Pro Care Auto of Dubuque and Associated Real Estate Counselors of Preston. Callahan settled for second with Luke Goedert taking third. The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modifieds also put on a hotly contested race with Matt Gansen getting to the checkers with less than a half car length win. Mark Schulte raced Gansen very hard but came up just short at the finish line. By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (July 16-17) – Brian Herbert pulled off a sweep in the annual Wheatshocker Nation­als at RPM Speedway during the Ellis County Fair races. In the Sunday night United Rebel Sprint Series main event, Jed Warner looked to have the $2,000 winner’s check in sight. Warner took the lead from Koby Walters on the second lap of the 30-lap event. Warner pulled away following a lap four restart and continued to lead at the halfway mark. With four laps to go, Tracy Hill came to a stop to bring out a caution. Herbert, who was running se­cond, took advantage on the restart and shot to the lead and held on for the win. Walters finished se­cond, followed by Luke Cranston, Darren Berry and Mike Peters. TOPEKA, Kan. (July 17) – Heading into Sunday night’s Big Time Bail Bonds Sunday Showdown, there had been no repeat winners in three of the four IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing divisions at Heartland Park Topeka. As the season moved into its seventh event of the season, something had to give … or did it? The event of the night had to be the BillsBuilt Race Cars IMCA Modified feature. Jordan Grabouski moved quickly into the lead. He began to put some distance on the field. A yellow flag would spell trouble for the three-time feature winner as Grabouski pulled off the track with mechanical problems during a caution. This would hand the lead over to veteran Tom Charles. By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 17) – Raceway Park hosted a fast and action-packed night of IMCA rac­ing action Sunday, with five divisions of cars taking to the track. In the KISS 107.1 FM IMCA Sport Compact division, Ramsey Meyer continued his dominance at the top of the field, extending his division point lead with his second straight win. Meyer took the lead coming out of the second turn on the fifth lap of the feature and never saw the rear of an­other car again. Luke Jackson took the runner-up spot followed by Don Tank and Tracy Raml. The CarQuest IMCA Hobby Stock feature belonged to Craig Clift from the drop of the green flag.  Clift found a gap in the group of traffic in front of him exiting the second turn on the opening lap and took control before they came back around to complete that opening lap. By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (July 16) – Repeat winners and starting in the fourth row was the magical starting spot in an evening of dirt track racing at the Hancock County Speedway Saturday night. Oliver Monson won his sixth feature of the year; David Smith and Josh Ruby each won their fourth while Drew Barglof won for the third time and Nick Meyer earned his second win of the sea­son at the oval. Ruby started on the outside of the fourth row before steering his No. 30 rig back into the winner’s circle in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Ben Kraus was second followed by Aus­tin Wolf. Smith earned his fifth IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory of the summer at Hancock County, after starting in the night’s favorite spot of the outside of the fourth row.
