Four former winners, eight first-time starters elected to All-Star field

BOONE, Iowa – Four former race winners and eight first-time starters are among the 28 Modified drivers elected to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Eleven states are already represented in the 13th annual event, set for Friday, Sept. 9 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Previous winners returning to Boone Speedway are Jay Noteboom (2005 and 2008) of Hinton, Chris Abelson (2011) of Sioux City, Kyle Strickler (2014) of Mooresville, N.C., and Jimmy Gustin (2015) of Marshalltown. Noteboom’s nine career All-Star starts are more than those of any other driver. Surprised Sessions becomes first Florida driver elected to Fast Shafts All-Star field

MILTON, Fla. – Scott Sessions made history when he was elected to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational on Friday night. He hopes for even bigger and better things on Saturday at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Format announced for Ernst Memorial, Iron Man Challenge at Longdale

LONGDALE, Okla. – One of the biggest weekends of the season at Longdale Speedway is only a little more than one month away. The second annual Darren Ernst Memorial pays $3,000 to win the final night of the two-day IMCA SportMod main event on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 with $3,000 on the line that same weekend for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds during the Iron Man Challenge. The Modified feature is a 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Pit passes are $30 for the Thursday, Sept. 29 open practice that runs from 6-9 p.m. Single-car qualifying will open the competition on Friday, Sept. 30, in both divisions. Drivers will then compete in eight-lap heat races to line up the 20-lap, 24-car feature that will lock the top eight finishers into a bracket race on Saturday, Oct. 1. Pruitt dominates Stock feature at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (Aug. 21) – Chris Pruitt dominated the Sunday main event for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Stuart Speedway. Bryan Snell and Brandon Hill brought the Stocks out with Snell leading lap one before the caution flag flew. Pruitt took advantage of the ensuing restart and blasted out to the lead with Snell and Brandon Pruitt in second and third. Brandon Pruitt made it past Snell on lap four as Chris Pruitt continued to lead. Both Pruitts left the field, and as the laps wound down Brandon began to inch closer to Chris. Brandon went low through turns one and two on lap 18, but that was as close as things got as Chris went on to take his first win at the track in two years. Free Friday admission at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Spectator admission is free and Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are on the card Aug. 26 when Cottage Grove Speedway hosts the final Fast Friday program of 2016. Saturday, Aug. 27 is season championship night for both the Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for juniors and seniors, $5 for youth ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Family passes are $30. As was the case all season in honor of the track’s 60th anniversary, the 60th fan through the front gate gets in free. Schedule for both nights is pit gates opening at 2 p.m., the front gates opening at 4 p.m. and racing is at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Miller captures first Williams Grove win

URSS Rebels return Belleville, Byers

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – After a week off, the United Rebel Sprint Series returns to action this weekend as the URSS Myers Engines National Tour will tackle the Belleville Highbanks in Belleville, Kan., for the second time this year and the Colorado URSS West Region will make its fifth appearance this year at Colorado Motor Sports Park in Byers. For the second time in three weeks, the National tour will return to the Belleville Highbanks for a $1,000 to win minimum $200 to start main event. J.D. Sprint Series of Oklahoma ready for Pat Suchy Memorial

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – What is sure to be highlighted on every race fan and sprint car driver’s schedule for years to come, the inaugural Pat Suchy Memorial featuring the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, will take place this coming Saturday night at Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Okla. This event honors the long-time Oklahoma City car owner who owned everything from jalopies, super modifieds and championship dirt cars at Fairgrounds Speedway in Oklahoma City from the 1960’s to the late 1980’s. SportMod Mayhem is Saturday at Dodge City

Dubuque Speedway IMCA Late Models gun for $1,500 clean sweep bonus

Season champions will be crowned in all classes plus the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models will run two 25-lap main events, the first of them for IMCA points. Thanks to race event sponsors Seegy’s Race Products and Widmeier Flooring, Late Models will be racing for bonus money, with $1,500 paid to the driver who can make a clean sweep of the nights racing action.
