Cordes has record-breaking night at the Bullring

VINTON, Iowa (May 30) – Troy Cordes made a little history Sunday night at the Benton County Speedway Bullring. Not only did he score his third straight win and fourth in five weeks in the KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds, he became just the third driver in track history to earn 60 wins on the quarter-mile. From a fifth row start, Cordes worked the high groove to perfection and found himself in contention at the midway point. He made his way around leader Ryan Maitland and set sail on the way to his career first three-race winning streak at the Bullring. Seventeenth starting Chris Zogg made a terrific run through the field and made a bid for the lead following a late caution, but ran second at the finish. All Star Shootout IMCA Modified win is career first for Wojtek at Kennedale

KENNEDALE, Texas (May 29) – The hugs and high fives that followed Fred Wojtek’s All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts feature win stemmed from his third place finish in his qualifying heat Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park. Wojtek caught William Gould for the lead 11 laps into the IMCA Modified main event, then outran Gould and Jacob Pirkle to the $1,000 checkers. “We weren’t too good in the heat. We changed a spring and ball joint and good gosh, the car was like a different car (in the feature). BOYD, Texas (May 28) – The IMCA Modified William Gould sold five years ago put him back in the winner’s circle again Friday night at Boyd Raceway. Gould raced from the 10th starting spot to the lead midway through the All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts headliner, then held off a pair of hard chargers in Jacob Pirkle and Jon White to the $1,000 checkers. “I like a fast track with more than one line and I like a short track,” Gould said. “This track was everything I like. MANDAN, N.D. – Mandan Stock Car Association board members were looking for “something different” when they came up with the idea of a 100-lap race for IMCA Modifieds. Now they’re looking forward to the same great things when Dacotah Speedway hosts its second annual $5,000 to win Iron Man 100 on Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5. Presented by Jerome Distributing and Coors Light, the Iron Man 100 starts with heat races and a pair of 25-lap $1,000 to win qualifying events on opening night. Dodge City Raceway Park preps for Driver/Fan Appreciation

By Whitney Hodgin DODGE CITY, Kan. – The June 4 weekend is shaping up to be a big one at Dodge City Raceway Park, where more than $35,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded on Driver/Fan Appreciation night along with the Boot Hill Championship two-day pointed event for IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod divisions. DCRP expects a packed house for the Driver/Fan Appreciation Friday night. On Driver Appreciation night, drivers are challenged to give away tickets to the races in a competition to be eligible for a drawing for prizes. Friday will also kick-off the first of a two-night special for the Modifieds and Northern SportMods. “The format for this special event will be a draw, re-draw which mixes things up and makes for some exciting racing,” Director Craig Dollansky said. PASS returns to Port Royal for Memorial Weekend show

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. – The storyline basket is overflowing as the Pennsylvania Sprint Series heads to Port Royal Speedway Saturday to join the program for Night One of the Bob Weikert Memorial. For starters, the May 29 show is set to be the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series’ 10th race of 2021 and so far there have been no repeat winners. Five of those previous winners are expected to be at the Port, including Garrett Bard, who presents another choice story. The 2020 national and PASS champion, Bard earned his first 2021 win last weekend at Selinsgrove Speedway, and a win at Port Royal would move him into sole possession of second place among PASS winners there. ARDMORE, Okla. (May 27) – A fast-paced All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts program at Southern Oklahoma Speedway ended with Matt Guillaume, Matthew Day and Jeffrey Abbey in victory lane. Hustling to beat bad weather, Guillaume was promoted to the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers after Wesley Veal came up light on the post-race scales. Day was lights out for the second night in a row at Ardmore in winning the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod feature and Abbey held Wednesday winner Tommy Fain in check to top the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Machado masters IMCA Modifieds at Petaluma

By Stephanie Deatherage PETALUMA, Calif. (May 22) – Mitch Machado became the latest IMCA Modified feature winner at Petaluma Speedway Saturday night. Taking advantage of his inside front row starting position, Machado charged to the lead at the start of the 25-lap main event. The veteran felt some brief pressure from Michael Paul Jr. but was able to temper his advances as the race continued. Four cautions took place, but one thing remained the same, Machado was the leader. Despite the occasional bid to overtake him, Machado set the pace for the rest of the distance to secure his first win of the season at Petaluma. Paul was the runner-up with third going to Anthony Slaney. Terry Kaiser was fourth while Jake Dewsbury ended the race fifth.

Pike, Whisler shine at Mohave Valley

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (May 22) – Jake Pike and A.J. Whisler raced their way to victory lane at Mohave Valley Raceway Saturday night. In the IMCA Modified main event, Sean Stewart put his mount in front of the pack before an early caution. On the restart, Stewart’s heavy pressure came from Pike, who was fast on the restart but could not get around Stewart for the lead. However, that would change when the second yellow flag flew several laps later. Stewart still paced the field when things returned to green but Pike rearranged his game plan and motored his way around Sean Stewart via the high side. Once in the lead, Pike cruised right along and a long green flag presented lapped traffic but had no effect on the quickness of the pacesetter. Pike was the first to the line when the checkered flag waved, earning his third win of 2021 and first since conquering the field at California’s Perris Auto Speedway on May 15.
