IMCA Modifieds, Late Models chasing $1,000 top checks at US 30 Speedway

COLUMBUS, Neb. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Late Models both race for $1,000 to win on season championship night Thursday, Aug. 26 at US 30 Speedway. The Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifier and is sponsored by Westring Trucking of Humphrey. L & M Steel Co. LLC of Newman Grove provides the extra money for the Late Models. Completing the race program are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. with racing at 8 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $6 for kids and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30.

East Moline Speedway honors Webb’s 50-year career with rescheduled tribute race Sept. 19

By Rob Hinckley EAST MOLINE, Ill. – As well as he is running right now, he may even win it. At age 72, Hall of Famer Gary Webb’s dirt track racing career is still at high speed. Webb is in his 50th season of speeding around tracks locally and beyond. The 50 years will be celebrated with The Salute to Gary Webb Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Sunoco Late Model race on Sunday, Sept. 19 at East Moline Speedway. The event was rescheduled from June 20 due to rain. “Fifty years at anything is a milestone, but racing at the level Gary has for five decades means more,” EMS General Manager and Race Director Bret Sievertsen said. “We knew East Moline Speedway wanted to honor Gary, especially since he considers this track ‘home’ and won a lot here.” The feature race will be 56 laps, in honor of Webb’s car number and pay $2,000 to the winner. Mulligan draw adds pre-race excitement to Prelude

BOONE, Iowa – A mulligan draw sponsored by IMCA.TV will add pre-race excitement and money to purses paid for Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts at the Sept. 4 and 5 Prelude at Boone Speedway. There is no entry fee for those divisions. If they wish, drivers can pay $20 before drawing their first pill; if they’re not happy with that number they can draw a second time and must keep that pill. All of the money generated by the Mulligan pill draw will be added to that division’s purse for the night. IMCA.TV then matches the proceeds generated in each division. Complete shows for Modifieds and Stock Cars are on Saturday, complete shows for SportMods, Hobbies and Sport Compacts on Sunday. The mulligan draw option won’t be available to STARS Mod Lite drivers, who run a two-day Super Nationals qualifying format during the Prelude.

One night isn’t enough for Prelude at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – It’s become an event so big that one night isn’t enough. Boone Speedway’s Prelude special leading into the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s splits into two days, Saturday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 5. Complete shows for Modifieds and Stock Cars, along with qualifying for the STARS Mod Lites are on the Saturday card. Northern SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts run complete shows on Sunday, along with the race of champions, qualifying races and main event for Mod Lites. BOONE, Iowa – Champions in five divisions fill the starting grids for Race of Champion events at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The inaugural RoC for STARS Mod Lites is on the Sunday, Sept. 5 Prelude card and will start 10 cars running 10 laps. The Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions for Modifieds, Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions for Stock Cars, BSB Manufacturing Race of Champions for Northern SportMods and Stephenville Starter Race of Champions for Hobby Stocks are all on the Saturday, Sept. 11 program. Time trial qualifying to set starting field for 18th annual Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational

BOONE, Iowa – Two rounds of group time trial qualifying will determine 28 of the 30 Modifieds to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. On Thursday, Sept. 9, two drivers from each of the five Modified regions advance from round one with another 18 drivers earning at-large berths in round two. Groups will be separated by regions in round one and staggered into groups by round one qualifying times for round two. Carter banks $5K in Drive For 5 finale for IMCA Modifieds at Lee County Speedway

After two rounds of passing point heat races, Steve Picou and Chris Zogg earned the most points to start the 50-lap Hinkle Auto Sales Drive For 5 main event from the front row. Zogg took advantage of his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap one over Picou and Carter. On lap three, Carter overtook Picou to move into the runner-up spot and then went to work on Zogg for the lead. Action was slowed on laps four and five for spinning cars and Zogg shot to the front on the ensuing restarts with Carter and Picou close behind. VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 22) – A number of close points battles were finally settled as champions were crowned on the final night of racing for the 2021 season at Benton County Speedway. Troy Cordes and Cristian Grady made the most of the finale by locking up track titles with season championship feature wins on the fast, smooth, multi-grooved, quarter-mile Bullring. Features were lined straight-up based on season point totals, allowing those in contention for track titles to settle things from the front row.
