Mackenthun Masters Make-Up Main at Park Jefferson

By Ben Deatherage  JEFFERSON, S.D. (May 2, 2025) — A thrilling Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature—rescheduled from April 18—unfolded Friday night at Park Jefferson Speedway, with Minnesota’s Dan Mackenthun emerging victorious in the 18-lap contest. Aaron Cain led early and built a strong advantage as Greg Peck and Devin Tripp waged war for second. A caution on lap 3 reset the field, and Tripp used the restart to charge the high side, pulling alongside Cain on the backstretch before taking the lead. A caution waved and Mackenthun momentarily took the lead on the next green, only for another yellow to erase the pass. On the ensuing restart, Tripp pushed too high, lost positions, but was rescued by yet another caution. Mackenthun kept the pressure on, and when Tripp bobbled in turn four on lap 8, the Hamburg, Minnesota veteran capitalized and never looked back. The 10-time reigning Minnesota State and 13-time Arlington Raceway track champion dominated the second half of the race to notch his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of 2025. Martini Charges to SportMod Victory in North Central Speedway Season Opener

By Chris Kolstad BRAINERD, Minn. (Apr. 26, 2025) — North Central Speedway launched its 2025 season with a thrilling night of Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly racing, headlined by Bud Martini’s remarkable comeback in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods feature. Starting from the 10th position, Martini swiftly moved into the top three by lap four. However, contact with second-place T.J. Wyman in turn one brought out a caution and sent Martini to the rear of the field. Undeterred, he methodically worked his way back through the pack. A pivotal moment occurred with six laps remaining when leader Tim Bergerson spun, collecting Wyman and Jake Kierstad. This incident allowed Martini to re-enter the top five. On the ensuing restart, the Avon veteran surged past the front runners, seizing the lead with four laps to go and holding off a hard-charging Wyman to secure his first North Central Speedway win of the season and third overall in 2025. Bergerson managed to finish third. In the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars feature, Tim Johnson started on the front row alongside [Read More]

Westergard Prevails Late in Skagit Season Opener

By Ben Deatherage ALGER, Wash. (Apr. 26, 2025) — Jeff Westergard kicked off the 2025 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified campaign at Skagit Speedway in style, overcoming early traffic and late-race pressure to earn his first Shaw Race Cars Western Region victory of the season. Adam Holtrop jumped to the early lead in the 25-lap main event before a flurry of mid-pack battles began to unfold. On a restart, Vancouver Island’s Geoff Morris, the 2023 Skagit Speedway track champion, powered into second before being shuffled back by James Bundy and Westergard. Bundy closed on Holtrop before a lap eight caution slowed the field. On the ensuing restart, Morris flipped in a multi-car tangle in turn four, bringing out the red flag. Westergard capitalized on the next restart, moving into second and then methodically pressuring Holtrop over several laps. Westergard finally found daylight on lap 16, slipping past Holtrop to take the lead. From there, the Sedro-Woolley driver pulled away, with only a late caution threatening his advantage. He held on through the final restart to claim the [Read More]

Deschamp Shines in Stock Car Thriller at Nodak Speedway

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Apr. 27, 2025) — Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars took center stage at Nodak Speedway’s season opener, and the 3/8-mile “Playground of Power” delivered thrilling side-by-side action on a crisp Sunday evening. Chris Tuchscherer, the 2005 Williston Basin Stock Car champion and double-duty driver for the night, grabbed the early lead. However, two-time defending track champion Will Scheresky found a way around him by lap 4 and began pulling away before a caution slowed the field on the fifth circuit. On the restart, Gabe Deschamp — fresh off a win at Marshalltown’s Frostbuster earlier in the month — tracked down Scheresky and completed a bold move on the inside to take command on lap 6. The two would battle fiercely until another yellow interrupted the action. Deschamp nailed the restart and continued his dominance, but Mike Hagen soon emerged as a threat. Hagen, a two-time Nodak Stock Car champion, briefly edged ahead on lap 15 only for Deschamp to counter immediately and retake the lead. The Westhope driver scampered away in the [Read More]

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Apr. 26, 2025) — A rare Saturday night show kicked off the 2025 season at Nodak Speedway, and the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds delivered an instant classic on the 3/8-mile “Playground of Power” at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Marcus Tomlinson and Justin Medler battled for the early advantage, with Tomlinson edging ahead after lap one. The six-time defending North Dakota State champion and 2022 Nodak track king looked strong before a restart brought two-time North Dakota State champion and 2017 IMCA national titlist Jason Wolla into the mix. Wolla muscled his way to the front by lap five, with Travis Hagen soon entering the fray. What followed was a family affair as Wolla and Hagen — brothers-in-law off the track — staged a thrilling duel on it. Hagen, a former Nodak champion and eight-time Williston Basin Speedway titleholder, applied steady pressure and began drawing even with eight laps remaining. Moore Outduels Blood in Wild Grays Harbor Modified Thriller

By Shaun Hulbert ELMA, Wash. (Apr. 26, 2025) — Craig Moore of Seabeck led all 25 laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Grays Harbor Raceway, but to earn his first win of the 2025 season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region was anything but easy. Moore took command at the drop of the green, quickly distancing himself from Scott Miller while the action behind was absolute chaos. The race from third through eighth went two- and even three-wide early on, as Tyson Blood carved his way forward from the 10th starting position. After a pair of early cautions, Austin Rognlin powered into second and Blood cracked the top three. The trio went to war on the ensuing restart, with four-wide battles breaking out behind them in a showcase of edge-of-your-seat racing. A third yellow with 14 laps to go set the stage for the moment of the night: Blood used the restart to sling past Moore in turn one, but Moore kept his foot planted, ripped the cushion, and crossed over [Read More]

(Apr. 26, 2025) — Jordan Tocci made a statement on the second night of the 2025 Montana Spring Roundup, powering to victory in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Electric City Speedway. The win marked Tocci’s first of the year in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and capped off a competitive season-opening doubleheader at the 3/8-mile Great Falls oval. Sixteen-year-old Tyler Leach led the opening lap of Saturday’s 20-lap main before Tocci and Cody Blixt entered the fray. Tocci, the two-time defending Gallatin Speedway champion from Three Forks, surged to the front on lap two just before a caution halted Leach’s run. Tocci dominated the ensuing restart until a lap six restart allowed Blixt to briefly slide past for the lead. Undeterred, Tocci reclaimed the point the next time around and never looked back, even as the leaders navigated traffic in the second half of the race.
