Winner’s shares of purse upped for July 8-13 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic IMCA Tour

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – More money for the winners and bigger starting fields are in plans announced for the 28th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour for IMCA Modifieds Each main event during the July 8-13 tour will pay $2,300 to win, $100 more than last year, and a minimum of $300 to start with 30 cars taking the green flag. “We have been tickled pink with our growth. We’re seeing a lot of the best drivers in the division following this tour and have gotten to the point where we need to find a way to get more of them in the features,” said Tour Director John Gartner, citing the record 90-plus per night car count average in 2016. “We had an all-time record 101 cars for the finale at Mandan, which means 72 drivers didn’t qualify.” The North Dakota-based tour also features IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars running for $800 to win and a minimum of $100 to start each night. Updates to IMCA procedures, general rules few for 2017

VINTON, Iowa – Minor updates to procedures and general rules for 2017 will help IMCA keep up with motorsports industry trends. Other than that, there’s not much different than 2016 guidelines. “Not a lot was changed for this season. Our 40-point system, the bonus point system and lineup procedures have all withstood the test of time,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “We have tweaked our bonus point structure over the years but as an executive committee couldn’t find a good reason to make changes this season.” “Issues like automatic penalties are also unchanged,” he continued. “We will still do our best to make sure penalties fit the offense.” What’s new this year includes: Fourteen and 15-year-old drivers will be allowed to compete in the Late Model and RaceSaver Sprint Car divisions, providing they detail their racing experience, a list of the tracks they’ll race at and submit required paperwork. IMCA special events drivers vie for Tire Demon awards

KELLEY, Iowa – Tire Demon by Love Tap gives gift certificates worth a total of $30,000 to special events competitors during its first full season as an IMCA sponsor. Five hundred dollar certificates will be awarded at 30 designated specials for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and at 15 designated specials for both IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Ambitious 18-race slate for Sprint Series of Oklahoma

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The sophomore season for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series of Oklahoma boasts an ambitious 18-race schedule that will see eight different tracks in three states host at least one SSO event in 2017. The season will kick off Saturday, March 25, in the first of six appearances at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. Longdale Speedway will again host an SSO event and be joined by the Kansas-based United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) on Saturday, April 1. Wichita Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, will play host to two series events. The track is under new ownership this year and will be promoted by former sprint car driver Kathryne Minter. Malcom looks to continue Idaho IMCA success in return to Modified division

SHELLEY, Idaho – A driver with track and state championships to his credit last year can already give you an approximate date for the highlight of his 2017 season. Cody Malcom won seven Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod features on the way to capturing Atomic Motor Raceway track and Allstar Performance Idaho State titles in 2016. Big Daddy now has new, big role in Southern Hobby Stock Region

NORFOLK, Neb. – Every driver in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division will be in the running for post-season cash awards from Big Daddy Race Cars. The Norfolk, Neb., chassis builder becomes title sponsor of the division’s Southern Region while returning for a fourth season in the same role in the Northern Region. Big Daddy will furnish a portion of the point fund to be paid to the top five drivers in the respective regions. IMCA Sprint Series of Nebraska primed for 10 dates in three states

BENNINGTON, Neb. – Ten race dates at tracks in three states comprise the 2017 schedule for the Sprint Series of Nebraska. Each main event in the tour for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars pays $700 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be awarded.
