Larson, Shryock earn IMCA tour wins at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – A teenager with the biggest win of his life and a veteran driver with a ton of feature wins highlighted the Midwest Madness Tour show at Kossuth County Speedway.  Sixteen-year old Jayden Larson won the IMCA Modified feature, holding off Travis Hatcher, Jeremy Mills and Kelly Shyrock for the biggest victory of his young career. The $1,000 checkers put the Mankato, Minn., driver on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.  The veteran Shryock also earned $1,000 for his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory. Hatcher and Larson led 24 Modifieds to the flag stand with Larson out front by lap two. After cautions on laps six and 10, the race stayed green for nine circuits. Larson, entering his sophomore year at Mankato East High School this fall, weathered two more restarts and held off some heavy hitters for his first-ever feature win at Algona.  Shryock tussled with Derek Green over the runner-up position, then started inching closer to leader Elijah Zevenbergen on lap 14 in the Stock Car [Read More]

Lincoln County goes Red, White, Boom!

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 4) – Getting the chance to shine in front of an Independence Day crowd, four IMCA drivers punched their tickets to the winner’s circle at the Red, White and Boom Night of racing action at Lincoln County Raceway Saturday evening.  In the most exciting feature of the evening, Bob Chalupa was the early leader in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Chalupa relinquished the lead to fourth row starter Mikey Dancer on the sixth lap.  Dancer had to work through traffic to gain the lead and checked out once he got there. Colton Osborn encountered heavier traffic coming from his fifth row starting spot and ran out of real estate making a move for the lead as the checkered flag waved. Osborn’s efforts were rewarded with the IMCA Modified feature victory. Osborn started on the pole and never looked back as he built cushions between himself and the field following each restart.  Troy Bayne piloted his Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod to victory after starting on the outside [Read More]
