By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (Apr. 8, 2025) — The newly rebranded Huntley’s Hoosier Winged Sprint Series is set to launch its 2025 campaign this Friday, April 11th, at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville. The 27-race slate will span some of Indiana’s most iconic dirt tracks in tribute to the late Kevin Huntley—a Bloomington native, fan favorite, and racing legend affectionately known as “The Pup.”. The series, now bearing Huntley’s name for the first time, celebrates the deep tradition of Sprint Car racing across the Hoosier State. The tour will visit Lawrenceburg, Paragon, Bloomington, and Kokomo Speedways, as well as Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt and Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis. According to renowned racing historian Dr. Pat Sullivan, Kevin Huntley was a beloved figure in Indiana’s rich Sprint Car tradition—respected by fans, competitors, and the racing community alike. “There were all these great Sprint Car racers that came out of Bloomington around the same time, and Kevin was absolutely one of them,” Sullivan said. “He was a native son—someone everyone knew and liked. Reimers Outduels Suckow in Epic SportMod Showdown at Boone

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (April 5, 2025) — Cam Reimers emerged victorious in a back-and-forth battle with Cole Suckow to win Saturday’s 20-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature during the Iowa Frostbuster at “Iowa’s Action Track,” Boone Speedway. Suckow, the defending Independence Motor Speedway champion, led early after a tight duel with 2023 Harris Clash winner Reimers. The two traded the top spot multiple times through the middle portion of the race while navigating lapped traffic. A late caution with eight laps to go set up a dramatic finish. Reimers took the lead on lap 14, but Suckow answered a lap later. Reimers again surged ahead on lap 17, only for Suckow to reclaim it. Reimers, of Kelley, made the final pass stick coming to the white flag and held on to score his first win of the year — a redemption drive after an early exit while battling for the win the night before at Marshalltown. Nebraska’s Tyler Nerud, the defending Beatrice Speedway champion, snatched third at the line over two-time reigning Boone [Read More]

Luinenburg Wins Wild Stock Car Showdown at Marshalltown Frostbuster

By Ben Deatherage MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Apr. 4, 2025) — Justin Luinenburg held off a pair of heavyweights in a dramatic finish to win the 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Marshalltown Speedway in the opening round of the 2025 Frostbuster series. The Reading, Minnesota, driver, a three-time Murray County Speedway track champion and 2015 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock National titleholder, fought off Maguire DeJong early and then survived a three-wide duel in the final corner. Three-time Marshalltown Stock Car titlist Steve Meyer gave chase early while Kelly Shryock worked into third in the Mike Hauan-owned Lake Mills Motorsports No. 3. Shryock, last year’s Super Nationals Stock Car winner, eventually battled with Meyer for second before two-time Super Nationals champ Dallon Murty joined the fray. Murty, the 2020 Marshalltown Stock Car king, powered around the outside to take second on lap 17 and made multiple attempts to pass Luinenburg in the closing laps. Shryock stayed committed to the bottom and nearly stole the win coming off the final corner. The three crossed the line nearly three-wide, [Read More]

Grabouski Doubles Up at Spring Nationals with Modified and Stock Car Wins

By Ben Deatherage BEATRICE, Neb. (Mar. 22, 2025) — For the third time since 2021, Jordan Grabouski left Beatrice Speedway’s Spring Nationals with two trophies in hand. The hometown standout scored victories in both the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at the 32nd edition of the prestigious event. The 30-lap Modified feature began with California’s Troy Morris III setting a fast pace. The 2024 Arizona IMCA Tour champion controlled the early stages while Iowa’s Izac Mallicoat and Grabouski battled for second. The five-time National Modified titlist and nine-time reigning points leader at Beatrice eventually secured second began reeling in Morris by the halfway mark. Hitting traffic just past the midpoint, Morris started to struggle with a lapped car which allowed for Grabouski to put pressure on him by lap 18.  The two would both be bottled behind traffic a few circuits later before the challenger got an advantage on lap 23 only for Morris to come back on the inside of him to regain the lead two laps later. A caution with [Read More]

Mike Vandermark Jr.: From Snowy Michigan to Clash On The Coast Champion

CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (Mar. 14, 2025) — A Wolverine who took his mittens off at this year’s IMCA TV Clash On The Coast was Mike Vandermark Jr., who never finished outside the Top 5 and earned the overall championship title in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car series. His worst finish was fourth on the final night at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama, to become the second champion in the class in two seasons. Racing Against the Odds Vandermark stands out for more than his performance. Like Florida’s Wyatt Parker and Evan Foust of Maryland, during this year’s Clash, he comes from a state without a track that hosts IMCA Stock Car races weekly. Despite the long journey and limited experience in the division, he finished second in a three-wide photo finish on the first night and claimed victory at Northwest Florida Speedway. Seizing the Opportunity “There’s a bunch of snow and cold weather back at home, so it was a perfect opportunity to go down and race and have some fun,” Vandermark said. “We stayed [Read More]

Chris Tuchscherer: From the Octagon to the Race Track

BURLINGTON, N.D. (Mar. 12, 2025) — North Dakota’s Chris Tuchscherer knows how to race hard, achieve success, and persevere. His competitive drive stems from a background in wrestling, which began in his high school hometown of Bowman. Excelling at both the high school and collegiate levels, he wrestled at North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo and Moorhead State before stepping into the Octagon as a competitor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Racing Roots and Return to the Track Tuchscherer’s passion for racing began with derby cars before transitioning to Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars. Despite the long commute from Fargo, on the Minnesota side of the Peace Garden State, he claimed the IMCA Stock Car title at Williston-Basin Speedway in 2005 — a track located in the northwest corner of North Dakota near the Montana border. However, as his MMA career gained momentum, racing took a backseat. His competitive fire never faded, though. Four years ago, he made his return to Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly competition, stepping into the highly competitive Friesen Performance IMCA Modified [Read More]
