Ferrando Flies to $2,000 West Coast Modified Clash Victory at Grays Harbor

By Shaun Hulbert ELMA, Wash. (May 23, 2026) — The opening night of the 2026 West Coast Modified Clash at Grays Harbor Raceway brought 33 Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds to battle at the fast 3/8-mile clay oval. Scio, Oregon’s Grey Ferrando jumped to the early lead and set a torrid pace out front in the 30-lap feature. Behind him, Matt Sanders charged through the field from his 12th starting position in his Grays Harbor Raceway debut, climbing to second by lap seven while navigating heavy traffic. Sanders began reeling in Ferrando in lapped traffic and cut the lead down to 1.7 seconds before a caution slowed the field. Another quick yellow for Jesse Williamson tightened things up again, allowing Collen Winebarger, a late entry during the wheel of the Swan Island Sheet Metal-owned No. 99S, to work into third. Winebarger eventually tracked down Sanders and made the pass with 11 laps remaining, but Ferrando remained untouchable out front. He led all 30 circuits to score the $2,000 victory and his fourth DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region [Read More]

Wood Outduels Wauters in $1,000 Hobby Stock Thriller at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 22, 2026) — Friday night was another special evening of racing at CJ Speedway as the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks headlined the action with a boosted $1,000-to-win feature, treating fans to outstanding wheel-to-wheel racing on the perfectly prepared 4/10-mile dirt track at the Louisa County Fairgrounds. Daniel Wauters raced to the early lead from the outside front row and paced the field for most of the feature while constantly being pressured by Sigourney’s Brayden Wood, who charged forward from the eighth starting position. A late caution set up a thrilling dash to the finish. Wood got an excellent run through turns one and two as the leaders raced side by side down the backstretch. The pair remained door to door coming to the white flag before Wood edged ahead on the final circuit to secure the hard-fought victory by half a car length at the checkers. The win was Wood’s second of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, with both victories coming at CJ Speedway. Luke [Read More]

Shayle Bade: A Mother’s Day to Remember

By Ben Deatherage LINCOLN, Neb. (May 21, 2026) — Northwest of Lincoln, the pavement eventually gives way to open Nebraska countryside. The towns get smaller. The nights get quieter. And when race day comes around, the traffic starts heading in one direction. Toward Eagle Raceway. For Shayle Bade, those roads have led to dirt tracks for most of her life. What started as an eight-year-old climbing nervously into a go-kart she had never even seen race before, eventually turned into a career spent chasing speed in go-karts, Micro Sprints, and RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars. There were wrecks. Tears. Victories. And eventually, one of the best Mother’s Day gifts a racer could ask for. Built Into Racing “Long story short, racing runs through my family,” Bade said. Her cousin Tom raced go-karts years earlier, while another cousin, Billy Alley, competed in Sprint Cars. But it was Tom who helped spark everything. “One day in 2000 my dad just asked me, ‘Hey Shayle, do you want to race a go-kart like your cousin Tom?’” she said. At the [Read More]

Trenchard Charges from 10th for Southern Oregon Modified Triumph

By Jason Allen WHITE CITY, Ore. (May 16, 2026) — Brett Provost and Albert Gill Jr. led the field to green in the $1,000-to-win Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. Gill jumped out to the early lead and paced the opening five laps before Ethan Killingsworth took over the top spot with a slider in turn two. A caution one lap later for debris slowed the field, but Killingsworth quickly rebuilt his advantage on the restart. Behind him, an intense three-wide battle for second unfolded between Matt Sanders, Nick Trenchard, and Ryan Peery. Trenchard eventually worked past Sanders and Peery to move into the runner-up position. Killingsworth held a commanding lead until Hudson Shoemaker spun on the backstretch exiting turn two, bringing out another caution with 10 laps remaining. On the restart, Killingsworth drifted into the loose cushion in turn two, opening the door for Trenchard and Sanders to capitalize. Trenchard took over the lead while Sanders and Killingsworth traded sliders over the next several circuits. Out front, Trenchard pulled away [Read More]

Stephanie Dodson: Finding Her Voice in the Tower

By Ben Deatherage MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (May 20, 2026) — In the heart of Central Pennsylvania sprint car country — where engines echo through the Susquehanna Valley and some of the biggest names in the sport compete — Stephanie Dodson has found her place. For nearly three decades, she competed behind the wheel, starting in go-karts before eventually moving into Midgets and RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars. Today, it’s high above the track, in the announcer’s tower. A former driver turned play-by-play voice of the PA Sprint Series, Dodson is part of a growing wave of women in motorsports — but still one of the few regularly calling races corner to corner. It’s a role she never planned. And a path that, like most of her life in racing, found her along the way. Built Into Racing “I don’t think I even had a choice to get involved in racing,” Dodson joked. Her father, George Stevens, raced Stock Cars. Her uncle, Gary Stevens, competed across Pennsylvania, New York, and Canada in Small Block Modifieds. When her uncle stepped [Read More]
