URSS 2016 Colorado Region Championship up for grabs at Byers

BYERS, Colo. – The final race of the 2016 United Rebel Sprint Series at Colorado Motor Sports Park will determine the 2016 Colorado Champion this Saturday night, Oct. 8. Current point leader and winner of the last race at Byers, Zach Blurton leads the standings by a slim four point margin over 2015 national rookie of the year Austin McLean. Justin Medlock is 20 points behind Blurton holding down the third spot. Current Colorado and national rookie point leader Scott Rhoades holds a 22-point lead over fifth place Luke Lucero. Positions sixth through eighth are separated by 12 points. Mark Walinder holds the sixth spot with Todd Plemons 10 points behind in seventh and teammate Scott Cochran two points back of Plemons. Saturday Night is Fan Appreciation Night at CMSP with the URSS Sprint Cars headlining the night’s racing. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for ages 12 and under. $5,000 is top IMCA Modified prize at Oct. 6-8 RPM Fall Nationals

HAYS, Kan. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modi­fieds race for $5,000 to win and a minimum of $400 to start their main event at RPM Speedway’s Oct. 6-8 Fall Na­tionals fueled by Casey’s. That feature is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Also on the card at Hays are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars racing for $3,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $2,000, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $1,500 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $300. Registration fee and non-qualifier pay is $150 for Modi­fieds, $100 for Stocks and $75 for SportMods and Hobby Stocks. Tow money for the Sport Compacts is $25. KENNEDALE, Texas – All four IMCA main events pay $1,500 to win at Kennedale Speedway Park’s 10th annual Showdown special. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods all chase $1,500 top checks at the Sept. 29-Oct. 1 show. Doubleheader this weekend for Sprint Series of Oklahoma 

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The inaugural season for the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Rac­eSaver Sprint Car Series comes to a close in a huge way this weekend as it will be a double-header of races that will tell the tale of the point championship. It all kicks off this coming Friday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore in a makeup event that was rained out the previous Friday night (Sept. 16). The tour will then travel to Okla­homa Sports Park in Ada on Saturday night and wrap up its 2016 point season. This will be the fourth and final event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway where John Carney II, Michelle Melton and Chad Wilson have visited victory lane during the track’s Fast 5 Friday events. URSS national finale is Saturday at Jerry Soderberg Memorial 

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The final race in the 2016 Myers Racing Engines National Points has the United Rebel Sprint Series headed back to Dodge City Raceway Park for the fourth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial this Saturday, Sept. 24. Taylor Velasquez will be going for his third Jerry Soderberg Memorial win in a row; Zach Blurton captured the inaugural event win in 2013. Racing action begins at 7 p.m. with Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks joining the Sprints. General admission is $20 with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. So far in the 10 races of the Myers Racing Engines National Championship there have been six different winners with Luke Cranston taking three feature victories. Blurton and Brian Herbert each garnered a pair of wins. Jason Martin, Steven Richardson and J.D. Johnson each picking up sin­gle wins this season.

Mr. Excitement 40 this Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park

IMCA Modifieds will take center stage in Saturday’s Mr. Excitement 40. Saturday’s action goes green at 7 p.m. after an open practice session on Friday from 7-10 p.m. Mike Strobl is closing in on the CSP Modified track title while Bryson Curry and Jay Foster split the most recent Modified action. JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds return to the Stock Car Stampede at Jamestown Speedway this weekend, racing for $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Heat races begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 with “B” features preceding the Saturday, Sept. 24 main event, a quali­fier for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Siskiyou hosting Sept. 24 Restad IMCA Modified Memorial 

YREKA, Calif. – Siskiyou Motor Speedway’s Saturday, Sept. 24 Rod Restad Memorial boasts a $3,000 check for the winner of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event. The Restad Memorial is a qualifier for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The runner-up earns $2,000 with $1,000 paid for third. The $100 entry fee includes car and driver. Five IMCA divisions on Saturday card for Jackson Nationals

JACKSON, Minn. – A full Saturday of racing sees five IMCA divisions take their turn on the track at the Jackson Motorplex IMCA Nationals Doug Cellan Memorial. Gates open at 9 a.m. and hot laps begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at Jackson. Complete shows for Mach-1 Sport Compacts and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks precede qualifying for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. The track will be reworked at approximately 5 p.m. and hot laps are at 7 p.m., followed by Northern SportMod and Stock Car features, then a complete show for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Modifieds, Stock Cars and Northern SportMods all race for top prizes of $2,000. The Hobby Stock feature pays $1,600 to win and the Sport Compact feature $750.
