Shryock doubles down at Hancock County

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – Kelly Shryock drove his way to the front twice Friday night during the School’s Out for Summer event, sponsored by Trulson Auto Parts & Service at Hancock County Speedway. In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Shryock started sixth and ran down early leader Todd Stinehart, who stayed close through the midpoint of the race until Shryock was able to pull away over the late stages. Jeremy Mills got around Stinehart at the end to finish second. In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Shryock wheeled the topside of the speedway from the 10th starting spot to capture the win. It wasn’t easy, though, as early leader Heath Tulp would not go away and raced to Shryock’s inside several times late but couldn’t return to the lead. 45 years of the IMCA Modified celebrated May 24-26 at Marshalltown, Boone, Vinton

VINTON, Iowa (May 17, 2024) – It’s a three-night event 45 years in the making and it plays out at three of the tracks where IMCA has been part of weekly racing programs for decades. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are the spotlight division in $2,000 to win 45th Anniversary events Friday, May 24 at Marshalltown Speedway and Saturday, May 25 at Boone Speedway, then chase a top check on $4,500 and $400 to start in the Sunday, May 26 show at Benton County Speedway. The first-ever IMCA Modified feature was held in Vinton on June 2, 1979; the division crowned its first track champion at Boone in 1983 and at Marshalltown in 1984. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win at Marshalltown and Boone, and for $1,900 to win and $190 to start at Benton County. Big payday awaits IMCA Northern SportMods at Southern Oregon’s R. Charles Snyder Salute

MEDFORD, Ore. (May 17, 2024) – Southern Oregon Speedway pays tribute to a former track announcer and James Bond fan at the R. Charles Snyder Salute May 25 and 26. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods run for $7,007 to win and a minimum of $707 to start at the sixth annual special, while Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds vie for $3,007 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Qualifying for both divisions begins Saturday, with last-chance races and main events on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region, Oregon State and track points will be awarded. Early registration of $120 per day for SportMods and $80 per day for the Modifieds can be paid using the Pit Pay app. Entry fees at the gate are $140 for SportMods and $100 for Modifieds. Eagle checkers fly for Zoubek

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 11, 2024) – It’s been a while but Bob Zoubek was back in victory lane Saturday at Eagle Raceway. After missing the last half of the 2023 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season with a shoulder ailment, Zoubek started sixth and finished first in the Mom’s Rule Night feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. “Nate Thompson and I kind of went at it for a while but finally on that (lap eight) restart I cleared him and went to the top,” said Zoubek, last a winner at Eagle on June 17 of 2023. “The car wasn’t the best and I almost spun out once. But I gathered it up from there and took off. At the end Chad Andersen made it really interesting, putting a clean slide job on me, but I held on to win by a nose.” Andersen ended in second and Thompson came home third, with Mike Densberger holding on for fourth. Patience pays off at Cottage Grove for Schmidt

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 11, 2024) – Patience paid off Saturday night for David Schmidt. The Roseburg racer kept things close before finally finding his way to the front of Saturday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event at Cottage Grove Speedway. Jason Kocks took control of the top-place position early on. The Creswell pilot had to deal with four straight restarts but maintained the top-place position each time. However, when the field came back to life after the sixth caution, he was challenged and overtaken by Aaron Bloom on lap eight. Bloom then tried to separate from the rest of the pack, but the persistent Schmidt kept things close. Schmidt tried to make the pass numerous times but couldn’t until finally on the 21st circuit. Unfortunately, shortly after being passed, Bloom had mechanical problems that forced him to retire early. Schmidt had no issues once in first and picked up the win. La Pine teenager Landyn Philpott rallied to finish second, with Kocks wrapping up the podium in third.

Marsh, Allee sail to IMCA wins at Ocean

By Steven Blakesley Blakesley Sports Media WATSONVILLE, Calif. (May 10, 2024) – Robert Marsh and Steven Allee were IMCA feature winners on Friday night during round five at Ocean Speedway. Marsh led all 25 laps for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory. Outside polesitter Todd Hermosillo drifted outside the top five within the first two laps of action. Eighth starting Jim Pettit II, aiming for his third consecutive track championship, drove up to second by lap six and brought along Jacob Mallett, Jr. into third on lap seven. Pettit ran on Marsh’s bumper through traffic before the caution flew on lap 19 for debris in turn four. Pettit drove inside of Marsh twice in turn three to no avail. Garner wins wild one in Marysville

(May 11, 2024) – The stars of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division invaded Marysville Raceway on Saturday and Antioch veteran Mark Garner shined the brightest in the May 11 show. The first few laps were a wild and wacky affair. K.C. Carpenter jumped out to the lead but got sideways around lap two and Phillip Shelby took over the top-place position. Shelby got the field back to green but was struck with horrible luck when his powerplant expired shortly after the restart. Garner became the third different leader in the two completed laps. Despite a brief period when he was under a bit of pressure, Garner put on a clinic for the rest of the distance. He went on to claim his first victory of the season and bounced back from a rough outing the night before at Silver Dollar Speedway. The race for second remained a nail-biter. Hancock County SportMod Nationals win is Anderson’s for third time

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (May 13, 2024) – Eddyville’s Logan Anderson has been to Hancock County Speedway in Britt exactly three times, each during the tracks annual Gold-Eagle Cooperative IMCA Spring Fling SportMod Nationals. On Monday night, he ran down leader Colby Fett in the closing laps to score his third Spring Fling Nationals victory in as many tries. Jared Boumeester led the first few circuits of the $2,000 to win main event before Justin Klynsma and Jake Sachau took over first and second, respectively. Contact between the two resulted in a caution with both drivers retiring from the event. In the late stages Colby Fett built a sizable lead before Anderson ran him down for the win. Alec Fett finished third, Cam Reimers raced from 12th to fourth and Matt Looft completed the top five. RPM hosts 13th annual Cody Younger Memorial

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (May 11, 2024) – Seventy-one teams checked into RPM Speedway Saturday for the 13th annual Cody Younger Memorial Race Night. Connor Schwien was the show as Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts started the program with a 15-lap feature. Schwien grabbed the early race lead, led by five car lengths just five laps in and went on to the checkers ahead of Rileigh Flohrs and Jakob Schwien. The 20-lapper for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks saw brothers Zach and Morgan Olmstead battle before finishing 1-2. Third was Tyler Heath. Another big field of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods was on hand and Tyler Watts grabbed the early lead while Brianna Maughlin, Ryan Kirchoff and Blaine Walt were moving to the front. Walt got to second and Kirchoff to third after getting by Maughlin on a restart.
