Baca reigns supreme at Central Arizona

(Sept. 21, 2024) – In sheer dominance, defending Friesen Performance IMCA Modified national champion Chaz Baca put together a fantastic drive Saturday at Central Arizona Raceway. He seized the race lead from the very start of the feature and built a nearly six second advantage over the second-place finisher, securing his 26th open-wheeled victory of the season. Marvin Mueller and Bill Miller were second and third, respectively. Five other Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing divisions attended the Pinal County Fairgrounds 3/8-mile clay oval. They included the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. 2024 IMCA point season ends Sunday, Sept. 29

VINTON, Iowa (Sept. 17, 2024) – Final points races of the 2024 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season are Sunday, Sept. 29. Modified, Late Model, RaceSaver Sprint Car, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod, Southern SportMod, STARS Mod Lite and Sport Compact drivers have their last opportunity that day to compete for points applicable toward track, state, regional and national standings. Track championship bonus points will be figured and national and regional champions and rookies of the year, as well as the Junior National Champion and Lady Eagle winner, announced as soon as possible after all race reports are received. Track and series officials have until noon Central Standard Time on Monday, Oct. 14 to notify IMCA of corrections that affect their top 15 point standings before 2024 standings become official. Car photos needed for Aero, Allstar awards

VINTON, Iowa (Sept. 17, 2024) – IMCA drivers will be big winners even after the point season ends, courtesy of Aero Race Wheels and Allstar Performance. Aero, of Estherville, Iowa, awards a complete set of wheels to the driver with the most feature wins during the 2024 point season. Allstar, of Watervliet, Mich., gives a $100 gift card to every driver winning 10 or more heat races and a $250 gift card to the driver winning the most heats. What’s required as part of both programs is for drivers to email pictures of their race car proving display of the heat and/or feature win decals they received after making checkered flag runs at weekly and special events through Sept. 29. Record pre-entries for 42nd annual Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 30, 2024) – They say records are made to be broken. That’s become the theme for the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Just two days after the number of pre-entries for the 42nd annual event eclipsed the 1,000 mark for the third consecutive year, a new Super Nationals pre-entry record was set when Danube, Minnesota’s Shaun Bruns became the 1,054th entry for America’s Racin’ Vacation. Bruns was the 279th IMCA Sunoco Stock Car to register, also a pre-entry record. New early registration marks were also established with 84 STARS IMCA Mod Lites and 27 IMCA Sunoco Late Models. There are 241 Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds entered, along with 182 Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, 164 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and 77 Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. IMCA Super Nationals entries top 1,000 for third straight year

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2024) – Early entries for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s have raced past the 1,000 mark for a third consecutive year. Late Model driver Sean Johnson of Independence, the Super Nationals Stock Car champion in 2011, became the 1,000th driver to pre-register for the Sept. 2-7 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway on Wednesday morning. The Stock Cars (275), STARS Mod Lites (77) and Late Models (24) have all topped individual division records. Entries for the are now in hand from 29 states, two Canadian provinces and Australia. NAPA Auto Parts will Double Down for the Prelude and the IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 27, 2024) – After the long time sponsor of the Double Down Prelude decided to go a different direction, it only took a five-minute conversation with Kendall Davis, district manager with NAPA Auto Parts, to add their brand to the Aug. 31-Sept. 1 event leading into the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. “The phone rang, and it was not the call I was expecting from (Boone Speedway announcer) Jerry Vansickel,” stated Davis. “He said, ‘Have I got a deal for you!’” After a short conversation, the two worked out the details to expand NAPA’s already great marketing partnership with Super Nationals and add it to the Prelude. Murty doubles up at Boone, Lathrop takes First Timer win

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 24, 2024) – Boone Speedway saw its annual Watermelon Classic, P1P Challenge, and First Time Winner Night on Saturday at the track. Dallon Murty doubled up by winning the Watermelon Classic and the P1P features in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Cody Gustoff won his first IMCA Sunoco Stock feature and it was Cam Reimers taking the honors in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Mike Smith went back to victory lane for winning another IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and it was Josh May leading flag to flag in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite main event. Extra laps were added to the feature events, extra money was on the line, and of course the drivers were awarded the sought after watermelon! The P1 Promotions Challenge for the Modifieds ran first after they had earlier qualified through timing. Only the top 12 fastest were locked in for the main event.
