IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Sprints race for Sweet awards

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 12, 2023) – Parts built with experience and proven by performance are part of the Sweet Manufacturing slate of awards for IMCA drivers again in 2023. The Kalamazoo, Mich., company and manufacturer of the Official Steering Box of IMCA renews awards for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models and IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars for a 14th consecutive season. “Sweet Manufacturing is proud to partner with IMCA once again in 2023,” said President Jody Kelsey. “We are excited to continue our long standing partnership with them.” Top three finishers in national Modified point standings and the national Sprint Car rookie of the year receive steering boxes. Schoenfeld marks 25th season as IMCA sponsor

VAN BUREN, Ark. (May 11, 2023) – Schoenfeld Headers marks its silver anniversary season of IMCA sponsorship, renewing awards for special events drivers in five divisions for 2023. Competitors at 80 designated specials for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods all receive $50 product certificates from the Van Buren, Ark., manufacturer of the Official Mufflers of IMCA and 25-year sponsor. When required to run a noise reduction system of 98 decibels or more, Modified, Late Model, Stock Car and SportMod drivers must compete with one of the three official Schoenfeld mufflers. Davenport IMCA Stock Car special sports $2,000 top prize

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 10, 2023) – When the checkers fly Friday night at Davenport Speedway, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event winner will make his or her way to victory lane to accept a trophy and a $2,000 check. The May 12 feature for The Class Too Tough To Tame also earns the winner B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. A minimum of $250 will be paid to start that race with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and Iowa State, but no track, points to be awarded. IMCA Sunoco Late Models race for $700 to win, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds for $600 and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods for $500 to win that evening. Bannister rallies at Bakersfield, completes sweep of IMCA Central California Clash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 7, 2023) – He was the defending tour champion but Tyler Bannister admittedly went into opening night of the IMCA Central California Clash with low expectations. Morris reigns in round 2 of Royal Rumble

By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (May 6, 2023) – The first round of I-37 Speedway Royal Rumble ended with heartbreak for Chris Morris. Round two on Saturday was his night for atonement. Two weeks ago, the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main had a thrilling finish with a last-lap pass for the win by Dillon Tindall. After a late restart Tindall took advantage of a rare mistake by Morris in turn three when he pushed up too high, allowing Tindall to dive low and take the top spot coming to the white flag and then hanging on to the checkers. Round two at Pleasanton saw 17 cars roar to life with Tanner Whitmire taking the point ahead of Morris, Mark Carrell, Tindall and Chris Carroll. (May 6, 2023) – Youngsters vied in the Sam’s Club Kid’s Money Grab at intermission, then cheered Michael Wade onto his career first IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature win during Saturday’s Junior Fan Club Night program at Eagle Raceway. Wade, a direct descendant of local racing legend Smokin’ Joe Wade, who graced local tracks for many years, took the lead on lap two and outran Adam Wasserman and Kyle Gannon to the checkers. “I have to thank Adam for racing me cleanly. First win for Fye on opening night at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 6, 2023) – After suffering three straight weeks of rain outs, the Boone Speedway finally got its regular season of track points racing underway on Saturday night and Danny Fye became a first-time Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature winner. Fye led all 20 laps, holding back the advances of Cole Fenske in the closing circuits in capturing the victory. Following second place Fenske was hard charger and 15th place starter Braden Richards in third. Randy Bryan had a bit of luck on his side with his win in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite contest. He had passed early leader Ben George on lap four to take over the number one spot, but was docked two spots for a jump on the start. Becerra wins IMCA Modified thriller at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (May 5, 2023) – His last-lap momentum made the difference for Austen Becerra in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Lee County Speedway. Bill Roberts Jr. moved to the outside of the front row after Levi Smith was unable to answer the call and took advantage to grab the initial lead over Jadin Fuller and Dennis LaVeine. Three early yellows slowed action but once back to green Roberts, Mark Burgtorf and Becerra put on the early candidate for race of the year as the three raced two- and even three-wide at times for the top spot, with Roberts holding them off at the line to be scored the leader. Coming to the white flag, Becerra went to the bottom to show Roberts his nose.
