Williams Returns to Winning Ways in $2,500 Stock Car Showdown at McClean County

By Ben Deatherage UNDERWOOD, N.D. (Aug. 2, 2025) — Championship Night of the Coal County Classic at McLean County Speedway doubled as the Tony Kniffen Memorial, showcasing top-tier talent in front of a packed house. In the 25-lap, $2,500-to-win main event for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Shelby Williams of Bonham, Texas took control early and never wavered. The 2025 IMCA.TV Winter Nationals champion held strong through three early cautions within the first 10 circuits. A lap 10 restart brought Friday night winner Jake Nelson and past Coal County Classic and Tony Kniffen Memorial champion Dalton Flory into the mix. On lap 22, Williams and Flory went side-by-side, with Flory briefly grabbing the lead on lap 23. But Flory drifted high in turn two, allowing Williams to capitalize and reclaim the top spot. Sporting his Salute To Veterans Tour wrap Williams led the final circuits to earn his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season, his sixth overall victory in 2025, and first win since May. Flory fended off Nelson to finish second. [Read More]

Nigh Notches First 2025 Late Model Win in Wild Maquoketa Finish

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models at Maquoketa Speedway saw front row starter Doug Nigh and 10th-starting Evan Miller swap the lead several times throughout the 25-lap feature. As the laps wound down with the two still battling for the top spot, a late race caution set up a three-lap dash to the finish. The lead pack behind Nigh was scrambled, and Logan Veloz made a last-minute charge to finish right on the heels of Nigh. Nigh scored his first win of the season, while Miller held on for third ahead of Bryce Garnhart. Schueller Goes Flag-to-Flag for First Maquoketa Modified Victory The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds saw a strong field of 18 drivers take the green flag for their 20-lap feature. Jason Schueller took the green from the pole and led the main event flag-to-flag. Schueller’s win was far from easy as he was pressured early by fellow front row starter Brandon Jewell, and late in the race, Shane Paris closed the gap and settled for second [Read More]

Nelson Nabs $4,000 Inaugural Ole Olson Memorial in Nodak Nailbiter

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 3, 2025) — Jake Nelson of Williston outdueled a loaded field to win the inaugural Ole Olson Memorial at Nodak Speedway on Sunday night. The 40-lap feature for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars headlined a program that drew 47 entries to the 3/8-mile at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. Nelson’s $4,000 triumph marked his fourth win of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and second of the weekend, following a victory at McLean County Speedway on Friday. It was also his first career win at the Playground of Power. Saskatchewan’s Gary Goudy Jr. set the pace early, running strong along the low groove until a lap five caution bunched the field. Three-time Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock track champion Brock Beeter reeled in the leader around lap 10 but was unable to make a move. That opened the door for two-time Tougher Than Dirt Tour champion and 2025 Iowa Spring Nationals winner Gabriel Deschamp to challenge Beeter for second. Their intense battle allowed Goudy to stretch his advantage [Read More]
