
Gustin gets first Boone win of season
BOONE, Iowa (May 7) – Racing won out over the raindrops at Boone on Saturday night, after last week’s rain out. Fans were treated to a great show in all divisions. Jimmy Gustin grabbed his first local win this season in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified division, as did Randy Roberts in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Trent Murphy in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Only the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks saw a repeat winner, Solomon Bennett. In the Modified 20-lap feature, it was Joel Bushore showing the way until lap 14. That was when Gustin and Mike VanGenderen, who had started side-by-side in row five, came calling. Gustin made his way around Bushore and into the lead.
