CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Oct. 10, 2026) — More than 120 cars filled the pits at Dirt on the Downs, with five Speedway Motors IMCA divisions producing an action-packed night of racing for the Dirt Downs Classic.
Troy Morris III made the most of his pole starting position in the $2,000-to-win Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature, taking command immediately while Cody Laney moved into second and Jed Freiburger worked his way into third.
A restart put Laney and Freiburger directly on Morris’ bumper, but the Bakersfield, Calif. native withstood the pressure to secure the victory. Laney finished second, followed by Freiburger, Logan Anderson, and Mark Burgtorf.
The race was also a qualifier for the 2027 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, putting Morris on the eligibility list to attempt to qualify at next September’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Plummer Charges From Seventh for SportMod Victory
Kyle Olson took command early in the $1,000-to-win Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature as Kaden Rice moved into second. Olson began working through lapped traffic while Tim Plummer, who started seventh, advanced into third.
A caution erased Olson’s advantage, and Plummer used the restart to move into second. Olson and Plummer then separated themselves from the field and battled for the top spot before Plummer completed his charge to the lead and drove to the victory.
Olson finished second, while Brett Thomas advanced from ninth to third. Josh Banes raced from 10th to fourth, and Rice completed the top five.
Jared Emerges From Late Hobby Stock Battle
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature developed into a battle for the lead as Nathan Ballard worked the high side to get around early leader Brett Vanous and began navigating lapped traffic.
A caution changed the complexion of the race and eventually put Kyle Jared in position to challenge for the top spot. Jared took advantage and moved to the lead before driving to the checkers.
Jared, of Troy Mills, earned the victory after starting second. Quinton Miller finished second, while Braden Gifford charged from 11th to third. Braxton Franks was fourth, and Jared Miller completed the top five.
Tony Olson Prevails in Stock Car Battle
Tony Olson and Hunter Smith battled for the early lead in the $1,000-to-win Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature as Steve Meyer moved into third and Gage Neal began making progress around the high groove.
Olson remained in control and ultimately drove to the victory. Smith finished second, while Kyle Olson charged from 10th to third. Curtis Kline was fourth, and Meyer rounded out the top five.
The race was also a qualifier for the 2027 B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational, putting Olson on the eligibility list to attempt to qualify at next September’s Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Bielenberg Bests Rick for Sport Compact Win
Lukas Rick grabbed the early advantage in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature before Mitchell Bielenberg closed the gap and made his move into the lead.
Bielenberg and Rick pulled away from the field as Cristian Grady worked forward from eighth and eventually moved around Adam Gates for third.
Bielenberg, of Charlotte, collected the victory, with Rick second, Grady third, Gates fourth, and John Carnahan fifth.
