ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 5, 2026) — Dan Mackenthun saved his best move for the final lap of Saturday’s Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Arlington Raceway, charging to the front in turns three and four for a dramatic victory.
Dave Moriarty led from the front row through the opening three circuits before a loose tire in turn two brought out the yellow.
Shaun Bruns took advantage of the restart and worked his way to the front on lap four, with Moriarty staying close behind. Meanwhile, Mackenthun was steadily making his way forward after starting ninth.
The Hamburg driver reached the battle for the lead by lap eight and began pressuring Bruns, who successfully kept Mackenthun behind him as the laps wound down.
Bruns remained out front entering the final circuit, but Mackenthun made his move in turns three and four. Mackenthun dove to the inside while Bruns worked the top, with Matt Looft and Dan Eckblad also joining the scramble.
Mackenthun emerged from the four-car battle with the victory, his 10th EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season and fifth at Arlington.
Looft charged from eighth to second, while Eckblad advanced from 10th to third. Moriarty finished fourth, and Bruns was fifth.
Volk Holds Off Probst in Hobby Stock Thriller
Jordan Robinson paced the early circuits of the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature before a spin by Cole Pietsch in turn four brought out the caution.
The restart opened the door for Chad Volk, who moved to the front before finding himself in a lengthy battle with Cory Probst.
Probst repeatedly worked alongside Volk, with the pair swapping the advantage and racing side-by-side during the closing stages. Probst was particularly strong down the backstretch, but Volk continued to answer each challenge.
The Lake Crystal driver ultimately prevailed at the checkered flag for his fourth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season and third at Arlington.
Probst finished second after starting seventh, while Austin Jahnz was third. Ben Davis took fourth, and Pietsch recovered from his early spin to complete the top five.
Hatlestad Takes Care of Business in Modifieds
Clint Hatlestad controlled the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature from start to finish, but Matt Looft made sure the leader couldn’t relax.
Looft worked his way forward from fifth and closed on Hatlestad, but the Glencoe driver successfully turned back the challenge and remained in command through the checkered flag.
The victory was Hatlestad’s ninth Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2026, with eight of those coming at Arlington.
Looft finished second, while Jason Schroeder took third following a last-lap scramble. J.J. Reimers was fourth, and Rick Nelson completed the top five.
Larson Denies Luebke Repeat SportMod Win
Matt Luebke was looking to make it back-to-back victories as he took command at the start of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature.
A spin by Jeff Carter brought out the caution on lap three, and Luebke retained the lead when racing resumed.
Eric Larson soon began applying pressure, however, and eventually worked his way around Luebke to take command.
The Madison Lake driver stayed out front the rest of the way to collect his 11th victory of the season and sixth at Arlington.
Luebke settled for second, with Joey Reimers third. Carter recovered to finish fourth, and Jeff Lloyd rounded out the top five.
Schumacher Goes Flag-to-Flag in Sport Compacts
Gary Schumacher left little doubt in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature, leading all 10 laps in a flag-to-flag performance.
Alan Lahr exited to the pits with trouble on lap four, while Mason Berger and Dale Gatton battled for position behind the leader.
Schumacher never relinquished control and raced to his seventh victory of 2026, with five of those wins coming at the Arlington half-mile.
The Maplewood driver was followed across the line by Berger, who worked his way around Gatton for second. Gatton finished third, Aaron Krienke was fourth, and Lahr was credited with fifth.
