ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 23, 2026) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks featured three different leaders in a wild 19-car contest before Winsted driver Mason Goettl emerged with his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season at Arlington Raceway after starting third.
The race saw multiple incidents during the opening stages before the final 11 laps clicked off under green flag conditions. Goettl held the early lead before Cory Probst charged from 10th into contention and grabbed the top spot on lap 10.
Goettl stayed within striking distance as lapped traffic came into play on the white flag lap. Probst crossed the line first in the special 18-lap race honoring Kyle Busch, but relinquished the win in post-race tech after refusing a legal claim, handing the victory to Goettl.
Austin Jahnz stormed from 12th to second while Chad Volk advanced from 11th to third. Scott Porter finished fourth after starting on the pole while Daniel Probst completed the top five.
Lund Charges from 10th for Stock Car Triumph
The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars delivered one of the best races of the evening in their 20-lap main event, which featured a special $100 bonus to the leader of lap 18.
Ryan Grochow led early from the pole while Andrea McCain raced in the mix up front. Redwood Falls driver Curt Lund, who started 10th, sliced through traffic quickly and took command by lap seven.
Daniel Eckblad, McCain, Lund, and Dan Mackenthun all battled fiercely through traffic before Lund and Eckblad separated themselves from the pack late in the race. Lund maintained the advantage over the final laps to secure his fourth victory of the season, but first in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region after earlier wins this year in Arizona and Alabama.
Eckblad finished second after starting seventh while Matthew Looft advanced from 11th to third. Mackenthun charged from 12th to fourth and McCain rounded out the top five.
Hatlestad Gets Second Straight Modified Win
The Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature went caution-free and showcased a tremendous charge by Glencoe’s Clint Hatlestad.
J.J. Reimers led the opening three laps before Todd Stinehart took command and appeared poised for victory. Hatlestad, who started ninth, steadily reeled in the leader before finally nosing ahead with 10 laps remaining.
Hatlestad drove away from there for his second straight Arlington Raceway victory and second Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season.
Stinehart held off Trent Loverude for second while Dan Menk finished fourth. Matthew Looft completed the top five.
Davis Drives from 10th for SportMod Victory
The Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods saw Lonsdale driver Zach Davis make an impressive charge from 10th to collect his first victory of the 2026 season in his first Arlington appearance of the year.
Davis used a restart following a lap-12 caution to complete his drive to the front and controlled the final three laps for the victory.
Eric Larson advanced from ninth to second while Ben Reierson climbed from eighth to third. Cole Hesse finished fourth while Eric Bassett rounded out the top five.
Allen Leads Every Lap in RaceSaver Sprint Cars
The RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars competed in another special 18-lap feature and Gaylord’s Andrew Allen was untouchable out front after starting on the pole.
Allen led every lap for his first victory of the season while the father-son duo of Bill and Matt Johnson waged a terrific battle behind him.
Bill Johnson charged from sixth and finally slipped past Matt with three laps remaining before attempting to chase down Allen. Bill finished second while Matt settled for third after starting fourth. Brett Allen came home fourth and Neil Stevens rounded out the top five.
Schumacher Survives Chaotic Sport Compact Main
The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts endured two red flags during their feature before Maplewood’s Gary Schumacher drove to victory from the fourth starting spot.
The first stoppage came when Dale Gatton’s machine caught fire on the frontstretch before extinguishing itself. One lap later, Jordan Wlasiuk flipped hard exiting turn two. Both drivers were uninjured but unable to continue.
Schumacher led the remaining distance for his third win of the season, with all three victories coming at Arlington Raceway.
Alan Lahr finished second after starting fifth while Jack Gatton crossed the line third from the pole. Wlasiuk and Dale Gatton were credited with fourth and fifth, respectively.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Dirt Race Central. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $25.99/month. Don’t miss Season 2 of The Boone Docuseries, streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
