Rapid Speedway to Join IMCA Family in 2026

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (Jan. 13, 2026) — Rapid Speedway will join the Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing program in 2026 with the addition of RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars.

The 3/8-mile oval at the Lyon County Fairgrounds will host 10 RaceSaver Sprint Car events beginning May 1, with the final point night scheduled for August 28. All races will be held on Friday nights, with the exception of the Lyon County Fair Race on Tuesday, July 21.

Enhanced purses will be offered on two special events, including the July 3 show and the Lyon County Fair Race on July 21.

“I’m super excited that this is happening,” promoter Darrin Korthals said. “This is my fourth year running the track and it’s something we’ve been trying to make happen. I’m glad it’s finally here and I’m excited to be a part of IMCA.”

Rapid Speedway has previously crowned IMCA Sprint Car champions on three occasions, including Steve Ballenger in 1995, Gregg Bakker in 1997 and Dylan Peterson in 2011.

All of the events at Rapid Speedway in 2026 will be streamed live on IMCA TV affiliate Advantage Racing TV.

SR Promotions to Host Six Races at West Liberty in ’26; Add Stock Cars to Davenport

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (Jan. 13, 2026) — SR Promotions will bring Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing back to West Liberty Raceway in 2026 with six race dates, while also expanding the weekly lineup at Davenport Speedway with the addition of Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars. West Liberty will host IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods on a roughly once-a-month schedule. All events will be sanctioned and will pay Iowa State and National points, along with Razor Chassis North Central Region points for Modifieds and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region points for Stock Cars. Whiteaker Wins One for Home Team at I-37’s Texas Showdown

By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Jan. 10, 2026) — The $2,000-to-win, 30-lap Texas Showdown IMCA Modified finale at I-37 Speedway started with Steven Whiteaker Jr. and Cody Laney on the front row. With the track sweep bonus already busted, the only remaining bonus was for the best combined finish by the ODS/Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series, setting up a winner-take-all showdown between the two front starters. When the green waved, Laney shot to the bottom first into turn one, but Whiteaker powered off the top to lead lap one ahead of Laney, Brenda Kirby-Morris, Jordan Grabouski in the Johnny Torres-owned no. 66, and Dean Abbey.
