Williams Outduels the Pack to Launch Beast of the East Showdown at Brewerton

BREWERTON, N.Y. (Aug. 15, 2025) — Justin Williams jumped out to the early lead in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite 25-lap feature, the opening leg of the Second Annual Beast of the East Showdown, with his dad Doug Williams tucked in close behind.

After a couple of early cautions, Williams pulled out to a few car lengths by lap five while Doug Williams, Zack Babcock, Ryan Anderson, and Matt Kitts battled hard for positions two through five.

By lap 10, Williams remained in command with Babcock moving into second. Doug Williams, Kitts, and Mike Mullen completed the top five.

Cautions on laps 14 and 16 erased nearly a two-second advantage Williams had built. With five laps remaining, he still controlled the race while Doug Williams, Babcock, Kitts, and Mullen fought it out for the runner-up spots.

A final caution on lap 21 gave the field one last chance at Williams and the $1,500 payday. Over the closing laps, however, Williams pulled away to score his first win of the season. Babcock finished second, followed by Kitts in third.

Beast of the East Showdown Brings Four Nights of Mod Lite Action to New York Tracks August 15–18

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2025) — The second annual Beast of the East Showdown is just around the corner, and Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite race fans are in for an unforgettable stretch of four races in four nights at some of New York’s premier dirt tracks. The action begins Friday, August 15 at Brewerton Speedway, continues Saturday, August 16 at Fulton Speedway, then heads to Weedsport Speedway on Sunday, August 17, before wrapping up back at Brewerton on Monday, August 18. Each night offers a $1,500-to-win main event. The first three nights will award National and New York State points, with timed hot laps setting the stage for heat races and the heat race finishes determining the lineup for the features. Points will be tallied across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the Top 24 in points qualifying for Monday’s championship night. Brewerton, Fulton are first NY tracks to sanction IMCA STARS Mod Lites

BREWERTON, N.Y. – The newest IMCA division is new to race programs at two New York speedplants. Brewerton Speedway hosts 15 Friday night dates for the STARS Mod Lites beginning May 14 through Sept. 3. Fulton Speedway, half an hour to the west, features the class as part of May 22, June 12, July 24 and Aug. 21 Saturday shows. The STARS Mod Lite sanctions are the first in the state announced by IMCA. “Our drivers asked us to sanction with IMCA so they could run for points,” explained Cory Reed, promoter at both tracks, located in the north central New York. “Some of our teams had traveled to out-of-state races to chase STARS points last year.” Mod Lites had run 20-plus years on the 1/3-mile clay oval at Brewerton and at specials on the 3/8-mile clay at Fulton. Mike Mullen Has $10,000 Night with Brian ‘Crutch’ Crutchley Memorial Mod Lite Win

(Jul. 11, 2025) — Mike Mullen scored the biggest victory of his career in Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite competition Friday night at Brewerton Speedway, claiming $2,150 in purse and awards—and an additional $8,000 in the Motor Raffle—at the inaugural Brian “Crutch” Crutchley Memorial. Zach Sobotka and Mullen brought the 24-car field to green for the 33-lap main event, with Sobotka jumping to the early lead. However, a caution flew on lap two, and Sobotka broke on the restart, ending his night early. By lap five, Mullen was in front with points leader Joe Isabell in hot pursuit. Justin Williams, P.O. Lessig Family Sweeps Stock Cars at El Paso County; Brian Sr. Edges O’Lear by Three Points for Title

(Aug. 16, 2025) — On championship night at El Paso County Raceway, the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event turned into a family affair as Peyton’s Brian Lessig powered to victory, followed by his son, Brian Lessig Jr. of Colorado Springs, in second. Local driver Ryan O’Lear of Calhan crossed in third to complete the podium. Dosch Steals Dacotah Speedway Stock Car Thriller at the Line

Veteran Marlyn Seidler led the opening circuits, setting a strong pace before an early caution bunched the field. On the restart, Brock Beeter and Matt Dosch went to work on Scott Gartner for second, while Geoff Hellman used the high line to move past both into contention. The race quickly turned into a three-way fight for the win, with Seidler steady through the middle, Dosch working the low side, and Hellman charging upstairs. They ran three wide as the white flag waved, trading the lead back and forth in a thrilling dash to the finish. Baker Survives Fiery Finish in Stock Cars at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 16, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature turned into the night’s wildest thriller at Eagle Raceway. Mike Lineberry jumped out early, but Trevor Baker worked steadily through the pack and used a restart to muscle his way to the lead. Chad Andersen came charging from mid-pack to give chase while Lineberry held his ground in third, creating a tight battle inside the top three. Baker appeared unstoppable once he gained the top spot, but the checkered flag was only the beginning of his drama. Just after crossing the finish line, his engine detonated in a burst of flames. Baker safely climbed out as fire crews swarmed the car, and the crowd roared at both the victory and the spectacle. The win marked Baker’s first in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region this season.
