Doubleheader Weekend Set for Maquoketa Speedway August 15–16

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 12, 2025) — Maquoketa Speedway will be rocking with two full nights of racing action on Friday and Saturday, August 15–16, featuring the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, and Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods.

Both nights will be run under the draw/redraw format and will award Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, Razor Chassis Northern Central Regional, and Iowa State points. The Modified and Stock Car features will be Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational and B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational qualifying events.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars will race for $1,000 to win on Friday and $1,500 to win on Saturday. Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods will chase $750 top prizes each night.

Friday night’s schedule also includes Hoker’s Haul for Toys for Tots from 4 to 5:30 p.m., where fans can drop off new, unwrapped toys near the grandstand entrance. On Saturday, the toy drive continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location.

After the races on Friday, live entertainment will take over the Beer Barn Stage with the Dirt Road Rockers. Saturday offers a full day of off-track fun beginning with a car show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by awards. A Bags Tournament begins at noon, the Kid Zone will be open from 1 to 3 p.m., and a Sponsor Appreciation Party is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. at the Beer Barn. At 4 p.m., fans can meet and greet their favorite drivers during the autograph session, also at the Beer Barn.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m. both days, with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. each day.

Ryan Rules Late Models at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2025) — Infrequent visitor Matt Ryan dominated the 25-lap Season Championship feature at Maquoketa Speedway for the Sunoco IMCA Late Models. Starting inside the second row, Ryan quickly powered to the front and led the remainder of the race, taking the win ahead of seventh-starting Logan Veloz. The points battle came into the night with Jake Morris holding a slim two-point lead over Steve Johnson. When the checkers waved, Morris finished one spot behind Johnson — enough to claim the IMCA Late Model track championship by a single point. Miles finds fast line at Maquoketa

By Rob Hinckley  MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 22) – Jerry Miles bided his time, worked the high groove and sped by Logan Veloz with six laps left to win the 15-lap B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMod finale on Hall of Fame Night at Maquoketa Speedway.  Veloz, Rusty Deshaw, Tyler Soppe and Wes Digman came next. Point leader Soppe suffered a mechanical issue in his own no. 3T ride during his heat. He hopped into Scott Williams’ no. 9 and raced from the tail to that finish, his first outside the top two all season at Maquoketa.  Other feature winners were Ray Cox Jr. in the QCJeeps.com IMCA Modifieds, David Brandies in  the 15-lap GRE/REV Chassis IMCA Stock Cars and Randy Lamar in the Shawn’s Auto Service IMCA Hobby Stocks. The wins came after the inaugural class of the Maquoketa Speedway Hall of Fame was inducted. Nezworski scores Maquoketa Late Model win

By Rob Hinckley MAQUOKETA, Iowa (August 11) – The focus was driving to the front. Andy Nezworski put all the national implications in the back of his mind Saturday evening at Maquo­keta Speedway. He slid by Jeremiah Hurst and then Terry Neal to win the 25-lap Andover Meat IMCA Late Model feature. “We’re pretty much out of the national thing,” Nezworski said in victory lane. “We’re a ways back in the points and you have to win a track championship, which we won’t. So we just come out to win races. We’ve had some bad luck recently so this really feels good.” Neal took the top spot from Marty Scheckel early before Hurst passed following a restart about halfway through.
